Last year, Equilibrium and Civil Society’s Barrel Aged Graceland was the best stout I had in the year. This year they changed it up a bit with the 2023 version being a Coconut Rum Barrel Aged Graceland Grand Royale, which I try on today’s Brew Review. This 14% imperial stout had the base aged 24 months in coconut rum barrels (that had a blend of eight different Caribbean rums for five years) and conditioned on peanut butter, marshmallows, bananas, coconut, and honey. I was a bit surprised with today’s Brew Review as I tried the Apple Cinnamon Strudel version of Toppling Goliath Brewing Co. in Decorah, Iowa’s Barrel-Aged Pastry Stout.
