NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 1/21/21

Last night on a short slate, I went 2-1 for a slight profit. The Blues disappointed in a 2-1 shootout loss, but the Vegas Golden Knights made up for it to give me an easy double winner with a 5-2 win to keep their undefeated start going! Tonight’s got a six game slate that I’m breaking down.

Bruins vs. Flyers (7:00)

Tuukka Rask vs. Carter Hart. Two of the best goalies in the league with two of the best teams in the East. Every game the Bruins have played in this year has gone significantly under and I think that trend continues, even though the Flyers are the best team that they’ve played so far this year. Under for half a unit.

Islanders vs. Devils (7:00)

The Islanders have one of the best defenses in the NHL and I don’t really see the Devils scoring much on them. The Devils also have exceeded my expectations starting the year and Blackwood’s looked great in net. I’m taking the under here as well even though its pretty juicy for half a unit.

Blue Jackets vs. Lightning (7:00)

Tampa has only played two games against the shitty Blackhawks so far this year. Yes, Chicago’s terrible, but Tampa looked great. I don’t think Columbus is a bad team but I expect Tampa to beat them tonight. I’m taking Tampa ML here for a unit, since I think the price on them isn’t bad at all tonight.

Senators vs. Jets (7:00)

On Tuesday, the Sens got off to a 3-1 lead in the second period over Winnipeg before the Jets came back to win 4-3 in a shootout. I sort of think that the Ottawa bounces back with a win tonight, but not enough to bet it.

Canucks vs. Canadiens (9:30)

Last night’s game between these two was FANTASTIC, with the Canucks winning 6-5 in a shootout. Tonight Montreal’s starting Jake Allen instead of Price and I can see this game going either way so I’m not betting it.

Kings vs. Avalanche (10:00)

The Avs are clearly a Cup contender out of the West and really let me down not covering the puck line vs. the Kings a couple days ago. Tonight Colorado should win but have Hunter Miska confirmed in goal, who’s only seen action in one NHL game. I’m not laying -250 on them with him in net, but the Avs should still outscore the Kings.

Picks

.5u Bruins/Flyers under 6 (-120)

.5u Isles/Devils under 5.5 (-145)

1u Tampa ML (-165)

Record: 21-18 (-5.63 units)
