Another night of winning last night, going 2-1 in some close games. Tonight’s got a big slate of some tough matchups. Let’s keep the winning going!
Capitals vs. Sabres (7:00)
The Caps opened their season with back to back wins against the Sabres followed by back to back losses to the Pens. The Sabres got a shocking win against the Flyers but are 1-3 to start the year. The Caps are 8-0 in their last 8 home games against the Sabres. Tonight, the Caps are without key players Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitry Orlov and Ilya Samsonov due to “COVID violations” so I could see the Sabres win this one with the Caps backup in net but I don’t see any edge in betting it. The last game they played last week, Vanecek was in net for that 2-1 Caps win.
Penguins vs. Rangers (7:00)
The Pens started the season 2-2, losing both games to the Flyers and winning both against the Caps. The Rangers are 1-2 and I could see this game going either way with a slight edge to the Pens. No bet for me.
Maple Leafs vs. Oilers (7:00)
A few nights ago when these teams played, this game sucked with Edmonton winning 3-1 (3rd goal for the Oilers was on the empty net). I could see this game going over since the last game sucked and I’d probably lean the Oilers, especially with Auston Matthews and Jumbo Joe out tonight but not enough to bet it.
Blackhawks vs. Red Wings (8:00)
The Blackhawks I think are the worst team in hockey, but Detroit’s pretty close. This is going to be a terrible game. The Blackhawks are starting their backup, Kevin Lankinen tonight so I could see Detroit winning this one.
Wild vs. Sharks (8:00)
The Wild started the season 3-1 but against pretty bad teams in LA and Anaheim. The Sharks are 2-2 splitting games against both the Coyotes and the Blues. I think SJ wins here but they’re not good enough for me to want to bet on them tonight.
Stars vs. Predators (8:30)
After a ton of COVID issues, the defending Western Conference Champion Dallas Stars open their season tonight against the Nashville Predators. Last season the Stars had one of the best defenses and goaltending in the league, which led them to the Stanley Cup Finals where they were just outmatched against Tampa. Dallas unders were a big winner last year the whole season and I’d guess that continues. I’d lean the Stars and the under tonight, but with them opening the season against a decent Preds team after all the coronavirus shit and not knowing how much they practiced, I’m skipping the game and will see how they do.
Coyotes vs. Golden Knights (9:00)
Vegas is opening the year as one of the best team in hockey. I think this continues and they beat Arizona again. I’m taking the Knights for a half unit at a cheaper price than expected at -175 and half unit on the puck line at +155.
Ducks vs. Avalanche (10:00)
Colorado started their backup last night in his first NHL game and lost to the Kings 4-2. Tonight Grubauer’s confirmed in net and I think the Avs easily bounce back against a shitty Ducks team. I’m taking Colorado ML for a unit and the puck line for half a unit.
.5u Vegas ML (-175)
.5u Vegas -1.5 (+155)
1u Colorado ML (-190)
.5u Colorado -1.5 (+145)
Record: 23-19 (-4.73 units)
