NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 1/24/21

Yesterday after starting out with Tampa’s first loss of the season, I bounced back to go 3-0 on the night slate. Today there’s a ton of games spread out throughout the whole day and I’m breaking them all down.

Blackhawks vs. Red Wings (12:30)

Early game between two of the worst teams in hockey. In Friday’s game the Blackhawks won 4-1. Laying off this game as I don’t really see any edge in either direction, with both teams starting their backup goalies. If this was a smaller slate I’d probably force the over here but no need to bet it with so many other games today.

Capitals vs. Sabres (3:00)

The Sabres suck and the Caps historically own them. The Sabres have kept it pretty close against the Caps the last few games but haven’t been able to get a win in any of their three matchups this season. I’m not betting this game, but I’d lean the over since both teams should get the puck in the back of the net.

Flames vs. Maple Leafs (4:00)

These teams are both matched up pretty well, as the line indicates with it being a pick em. I’m not betting this one.

Coyotes vs. Golden Knights (4:00)

Vegas took their first loss of the season 5-2 on Friday, giving me losses on the ML and puck line. I think Vegas bounces back here with Fleury projected to get his first start of the season (I don’t think goalie matters here though as both Lehner and Flower are two of the best goalies in the show) and I’m going back to them with half a unit each again ML and PL.

Devils vs. Islanders (7:00)

The Devils haven’t been bad this year but the Islanders are the better team here. The Devils are starting their backup Wedgewood tonight, so I’m going with Isles ML for a unit.

Penguins vs. Rangers (7:00)

Friday, the Pens beat the Rangers in a shootout 4-3. I’d give a slight lean for Pitt to win again tonight but not enough to bet it. Every game that Pittsburgh has played in this year has gone over and the Rangers are 2-2 on the over. I’m gonna take the over here for half a unit. If it was at 6 I’d do a full unit, but I’ll scale back a little bit with the high 6.5.

Blues vs. Kings (8:00)

The Blues controlled last night’s game pretty well to get the win over the Kings 4-2. I’m gonna hit that again. The ML is a little pricy so I’m splitting it up with a half unit each on ML and PL, as long as Binnington’s confirmed in net.

Wild vs. Sharks (8:00)

The Wild are putting together a pretty good start to the season and are 4-1 so far. They beat the Sharks 4-1 on Friday, but I still can’t trust this team to bet them since they’ve been playing shitty teams to start the team. Skipping this one.

Stars vs. Predators (8:00)

After a huge lay off to start the year cause of coronavirus problems, the Stars picked up right where they left off last season and dominated the Preds 7-0 in their season opener. I don’t think that Nashville is that bad to get blown out like that again, but I do think Dallas wins again. Half unit on the pretty cheap Dallas ML.

Ducks vs. Avalanche (8:00)

Colorado’s a good team but they’ve sucked at covering puck lines this year, so I’m done with that. They should beat the Ducks though, so Colorado ML for half a unit, as long as Grubauer is confirmed in goal.

Jets vs. Oilers (9:00)

I think this game could go either way and I haven’t really been able to read either of these teams well this year (although I don’t think the Oilers are as good as lots of people think they are). Not touching this one.
