NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 2/3/21

On the big NHL slate last night, I had a few bad beats (especially on Edmonton not hitting the over as the covering goal went into the net a fraction of a second after the final horn went off) but it was still a slightly profitable night to keep the winning streak going with three winning nights in the last four days. Tonight there’s only two games, so let’s keep making money.

Lightning vs. Red Wings (5:30)

Tampa’s one of the best teams in the East and haven’t had any issues scoring goals against shitty teams. The Red Wings, although they’ve been hanging around in some games, suck. Tonight’s game between these teams with Vas already confirmed in net for the Bolts is the most expensive game of the season so far with Tampa favored at -360. No matter how shitty and how good a team is, no team in the NHL should be this big of a favorite ever with how much parity there is in the league. Tampa in regulation at -220 is a much better line (although still pricey) so I’m going to play that for half a unit as well as the Tampa team total over 3.5 at -140 for half a unit. Tampa should easily be able to put Detroit away tonight.

Flyers vs. Bruins (8:00)

These two teams have played twice so far this year, with the Bruins winning both matchups. In the first game, the Bruins significantly outshot Philly 43-26 but it took until a shootout for them to win 5-4. In the second matchup, Carter Hart had a lousy night allowing 6 goals on 26 shots. I think both of these teams are good so I could see this game going either way with a slight lean on the Bruins. I do think it continues to go over, so at 5.5, I’m going to take the over for half a unit.

Picks

.5u Tampa in regulation (-220)

.5u Tampa TT over 3.5 (-140)

.5u Bruins/Flyers over 5.5 (-115)

Record: 49-42 (-5.84 units)
