On a short two game slate last night we went 3-0 to give us our fourth winning day in the last five. Tonight with COVID cancellations, there’s eight NHL games on the slate. I have my most action of the season on tonight’s games. Another day of hopeful winners!
Rangers vs. Capitals (7:00)
The Rangers have been a struggling hockey team this season but are coming off two games that they played well against Pittsburgh (5-4 loss and 3-1 win). Tonight they play the Caps coming off a loss to the Bruins where they gave up 5 unanswered to lose 5-3. I don’t understand how the line on this game is a pickup and think the Caps should be favored here. My prediction is they bounce back with a win tonight so I’m on the Caps ML for half a unit.
Panthers vs. Predators (7:00)
The Preds haven’t been great this year, with their wins against Columbus and the Blackhawks and getting beat in every game against the good teams (Carolina, Dallas, Tampa). Florida hasn’t lost in regulation yet this year in their six games but they’ve only played against Columbus, Detroit and Chicago so we don’t really know what they’re made of yet. With the goalie matchup between Bobrovsky and Saros tonight, I could see this game going either way so I’m laying off of it.
Blue Jackets vs. Stars (7:00)
Dallas is still a very good team. After losing back to back games to Carolina (who might be a surprising cup contender), they bounced back and won 6-3 against Columbus on Tuesday night. With Dobby not in net, I laid off this game on Tuesday but Jake Oettinger’s been solid to start his rookie season in games he’s gotten the nod in. Tonight with Dobby back in net, I’m back on the Stars ML (which I think is pretty cheap) for a unit.
Canadiens vs. Senators (7:00)
Montreal’s so fucking good this year and Ottawa’s terrible. This game’s a no brainer for me that Montreal wins, but its expensive on the ML and the puck line has no value. I’ll take the Canadiens in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the over too but I’d be concerned that Ottawa isn’t going to be able to score on Carey Price, who’s already confirmed in net for the Habs. I’m also going with the Montreal team total over 3.5 for a unit.
Maple Leafs vs. Canucks (7:00)
The Leafs have been pretty good this year and outside of beating up on the Senators, the Canucks haven’t been great. The Leafs should be able to beat the Canucks tonight and I’d expect this game to go over. I’m going to lay off this game but I think Toronto wins it.
Blackhawks vs. Hurricanes (8:00)
The Blackhawks seem to have found their goalie in Kevin Lankinen who’s been playing great the last few games. On Tuesday it took until overtime for the Canes to beat the Blackhawks (which lost me my regulation bet and The Hurricanes though are an elite team and should again be able to beat the Hawks again. A unit on Carolina ML.
Blues vs. Coyotes (8:00)
When these teams played on Tuesday, the Blues won 4-3 with both starting goaltenders in net. Tonight, Arizona is starting Antti Raanta against Binnington, so it should be an easier win for the Blues. I’m back on the Blues for a unit.
Jets vs. Flames (8:00)
In three games between these two teams this season, Winnipeg has won 2 of 3 and all three games have been one goal differentials. I’m laying off this game entirely since I could see it going either direction.
