I should’ve probably stayed off another night of hockey yesterday on the shitty three game slate, but not a huge loss. The mush is still real though. Today’s got a huge slate of games and I’m breaking down all of them.
Sabres vs. Flyers (1:00)
I still think the Sabres are a bad team and they’re without Jack Eichel and Linus Ullmark today, making them way worse than they already are. Even though their record doesn’t really show it, I think Philly’s a good team. In two games between these teams at the beginning of the season, the Sabres won 6-1 and then got shut out 3-0. Taking the Flyers for half a unit on the ML, even with Elliott already confirmed in goal.
Devils vs. Capitals (1:00)
The Caps are having a great year so far and are currently tied with Boston for 1st place in the East. Although I don’t think the Devils are a bad team, I think the Caps are significantly better than them. These teams have only met once this season where Washington won 4-3. I’d lean Washington again in this game but since I’m on a cold streak I’m skipping this game.
Senators vs. Flames (1:00)
What the fuck is going on with the Ottawa Senators lately. This team, who I still think is bad is now on a three game win streak with five wins in their last seven. Their last game, I expected Calgary to beat the Sens and instead Ottawa blew them out 6-1. Again, I would think Calgary wins this one but I’m not betting against the Sens.
Predators vs. Blue Jackets (3:00)
Nashville isn’t very good this season but they have had success against Columbus winning 3 of 4 matchups against the Blue Jackets. This isn’t a game I want to touch.
Islanders vs. Penguins (7:00)
In all four games against the Isles this year, the Penguins are 3-1. The Islanders are coming off a huge 7-2 win against the Bruins and have won 7 of their last 10. I’d lean Pittsburgh in this game but not betting it as long as Varlamov’s in net tonight.
Lightning vs. Stars (7:00)
Tampa’s been flying lately with three wins in their last four against a very good hockey team in Carolina and the Cup Champs are still one of the best teams in hockey. After three games being postponed already, we have the first re-match of the season of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals. Dallas is a way worse team than they were last year and I think the result of tonight’s game is the same thing as last year’s Cup Finals. Tampa wins this one and I’m taking the Bolts ML for half a unit.
Panthers vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
The Florida Panthers are playing great hockey and sitting in 1st place in the Central. Carolina’s really good too though, especially on the back end. I think this game is very good tonight. I’d slightly lean Carolina but wouldn’t bet this one.
Oilers vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
These two storied teams are at the top of the North Division and crushing teams. With Jack Campbell likely in goal for the Leafs, I’d lean the Oilers on this game. These teams play close though and are 2-2 against each other this season. I’d also slightly lean the over but not enough to bet it at 6.5. Might look to add the over live though.
Blackhawks vs. Red Wings (8:00)
At the beginning of the year, this would’ve been a horrible game. The Blackhawks have far exceeded the expectations for themselves though. I think Chicago wins this one.
Wild vs. Kings (8:00)
Last night the Wild snapped LA’s winning streak to get their own fifth straight win in a 3-1 game. With the Kings likely going back to the red hot Peterson in goal tonight, I’d lean LA here but not enough to bet it. I don’t mind the Kings +1.5 at -160 either if you want to hit the puck line.
Coyotes vs. Avalanche (9:00)
The game last night between these teams had a pretty surprising start as a second string and third string goalie only allowing a combined single goal in the first 46 minutes of game time before Colorado got out to a 3-0 lead. Arizona scored a couple goals in the last two minutes of the game to make the score look less lopsided. I’d think Colorado wins again.
Jets vs. Canadiens (10:00)
After starting the season so great, Montreal’s fading and look like a flaw team who are now on a four game losing streak with only one win in their last seven games. On the second game under a new interim head coach, the Habs are still the road favorite in this one. I’d lean the Jets as a home dog but I’m not betting this one.
Ducks vs. Golden Knights (10:00)
Vegas is still my pick to win the Cup this year and have shown no signs of weakness to change that for me. Although they lost the last matchup against the Ducks 1-0, Vegas is the way better team here and should win tonight. I’ll take my Golden Knights in regulation for half a unit.
Sharks vs. Blues (10:30)
I think the Blues are the better team here but they haven’t played well lately with three straight losses and four in their last five. The Sharks are back on the ice tonight after a short COVID delay. I think the Blues make it right with a win tonight but I’m not looking to put any money on this one.
.5u Flyers ML (-150)
.5u Lightning ML (-190)
.5u Vegas in regulation (-135)
Record: 87-87 (-27.76 units)
