Yesterday’s big slate was pretty solid, starting the day 4-0 and riding that to a 6-3 day, winning a little over 2 units! Today’s got some tough NHL matchups to bet, but hopefully I can build on yesterday’s wins. 

Update: solid start to the day with 2 units won on the Islanders!

Islanders vs. Sabres (12:00)

Yesterday was another 5-2 Islanders win over the Sabres, making them 5-0 against Buffalo this season and 12-2 since December 2016. Can’t not take the Islanders again as I think this gives the Sabres their seventh straight loss and might lead to head coach Ralph Krueger getting fired. Going back to Isles ML and regulation line for a unit each.

Blackhawks vs. Lightning (2:30)

Early to start the season, Tampa beat Chicago 5-1 and 5-2, but the last two games between them the Blackhawks have kept it much closer with a 3-2 Tampa overtime win and then a 4-3 Blackhawks win in a shootout. I’d lean Tampa to win this one today for a bounce back but I don’t think it’s worth betting at -220. I also don’t mind Chicago +1.5 at -150, but I’m not betting either side of this game.

Hurricanes vs. Panthers (5:00)

In three games against the Panthers this year, Carolina lost the first one at home 4-3 then got their revenge with back to back wins in Florida, 4-3 and 3-2. I think this game ends up being pretty close and wouldn’t bet it in any direction. Both these teams are having pretty good seasons and all three games have only been decided by a goal. 

Bruins vs. Devils (5:00)

The Bruins are the way better team in this game tonight. This year the Devils have been pretty good against them though and are 2-1 against the B’s this year. All three games have been decided by a goal. I’d lean the Bruins win here to tie up the season series but I don’t think its worth betting at an expensive. The Devils have been bad lately with 7 losses in 8 games (and the win was against Buffalo, so does that even count as a win) so I’m staying off the fair -110 price on the Devils +1.5 as well.

Flyers vs. Capitals (7:00)

These two East teams are having good seasons and can score. In their only game this year, the Flyers won 7-4 on a three unanswered goal third period while getting outshot 37-23 in the game. I think both teams should be able to score and I’m taking the over for half a unit.

Penguins vs. Rangers (7:30)

In three games against the Rangers this year, the Penguins are 3-1 with all three wins being decided by a goal while the loss was 3-1. The Rangers have been improving lately (although they’ve had an easy schedule coming into this game with three straight wins against NJ and Buffalo). I’m on the Penguins ML for half a unit tonight. 

Stars vs. Predators (8:00)

Of course after coming into last night’s game with the first period under in Stars games being 16-2 on the season, they scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the game to get me a loss the first time I jumped on this trend. These teams have only played twice this season in Dallas’s first two games of the season with the Stars winning 7-0 and then 3-2. I’m jumping back on the first period under trend tonight with half a unit on that.

Flames vs. Senators (9:30)

In the first four games these teams played each other this season (all recently), they split those games and each won 2. All four games have been pretty lopsided and high scoring. I’m laying off this game but I’d lean Calgary and the over.
