Going into yesterday I knew it wasn’t going to be a great slate. I should’ve gone a bit lighter on Vegas with Stone and Pietrangelo out as late scratches and then got some bad breaks as Montreal lost after giving up the tying 1-1 goal with 40 seconds remaining in the game. Oh well, still a winning week so let’s chase it tonight on this nine game NHL slate.
Penguins vs. Rangers (6:00)
On Sunday night, the Rangers took care of the Rangers pretty easy. After allowing three goals in 1:01 towards the end of the first period, Georgiev was pulled and Keith Kinkaid made his first appearance in goal for the Rangers. He was decent coming off the bench Sunday allowing 2 goals on 18 shots and is making his first start of the year tonight. The Penguins rode that three goal first period to an easy 5-2 win for their fourth win in five games against the Rangers this season. I think the Penguins take care of business again here am backing them on the ML for a unit.
Flyers vs. Sabres (7:00)
The Sabres most recently lost three straight games to the Islanders by a score of 5-2 every time, played like shit and are on a seven game losing streak. In those seven games, two of them were back to back 3-0 shutout losses to the Flyers. Tonight I think the Flyers win again and Jack Eichel is out for the Buffalo. Biggest bet of the season with 3u on Flyers in regulation.
Islanders vs. Bruins (7:00)
This year these teams have matched up three times and the Isles won all three games with 7-2, 4-2 and 1-0. Its hard to pick against the Islanders here but I think this is a pretty close matchup that could be a toss up. I’m not betting this one in any direction.
Capitals vs. Devils (7:00)
The Capitals are one of the best teams in the East this year and besides Buffalo, NJ is one of the worst. In three games this season, the Caps beat the Devils in all three games. Going with the chalk on this one with the Caps ML for a unit. I’d lean the over here too.
Hurricanes vs. Predators (7:00)
In the two games this season between these teams, the Canes won both games 4-2 on the road against the struggling Preds. Reimer started both of those games and Nashville kept it close outshooting Carolina in both matchups and with both 4th goals being scored on the empty net. I’m staying off this game.
Blue Jackets vs. Panthers (7:00)
Columbus hasn’t been a good team this year and Florida’s been overachieving. Earlier this season, these teams split those games with a Florida 4-3 win and a Jackets 3-2 win. I’d lean the Panthers here but I’m going to stay off this game.
Maple Leafs vs. Jets (7:00)
Besides back to back losses in their last two games against the Canucks, the Leafs have been on a tear lately. The Jets are a decent team and currently sitting in the 3rd place playoff spot in the North Division. These teams only met once earlier this season where Toronto won 3-1. I think the Leafs win tonight at home but I can’t seem to get betting the Leafs right so I’m skipping this game.
Red Wings vs. Lightning (7:30)
This is the most lopsided matchup in the East with the best team facing off on the road against the worst. Tampa won both games against Detroit easily earlier this year 5-1 and 3-1. I’m going with Tampa in regulation for a unit since the ML is so expensive and I never bet puck lines at – money.
Stars vs. Blackhawks (8:30)
In both games that these teams have played this season, Chicago won both games with a score of 2-1. I’d think Chicago beats the struggling Stars again tonight. Kind of a strange matchup with Chicago exceeding expectations this season while Dallas is far underachieving. After finding the trend of Dallas first period unders going 16-2 to start the season, I jumped on that two games ago and both went over. I’m not betting it tonight with Subban (who actually hasn’t been bad lately) in goal for Chicago, but I could almost guarantee its going to hit without me having action on it.
3u Flyers in regulation (-160)
1u Penguins ML (-170)
1u Capitals ML (-195)
1u Tampa in regulation (-210)
Record: 115-113 (-27.28 units)
