NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/16/21

Crushed another slate of hockey last night and after Tampa didn’t bother showing up in the early game, I went undefeated for a 4-1 night to keep the winning streak going and winning a couple units. I’m having a good week with a 16-3 run the last four days to win 11.2 units and hoping to keep that rolling on tonight’s slate.

Devils vs. Sabres (7:00)

The Sabres are shockingly bad and have now lost eleven straight games and have yet to fire their coach or make any changes, which is fucking ridiculous. The Devils aren’t a whole lot better and only have two wins in their last 14 games (and one of them was against the Sabres). The Devils are like the only team the Sabres have a winning record against this season (3-2). NJ has been bad at home and has lost their last eleven straight at the Prudential Center. I’d give the edge to the Devils here who have kept it close in their last few games against teams that are much better than Buffalo and am going with half a unit each on the Devils ML and regulation line. Treading a little bit lighter tonight but still gotta keep betting against the Sabres, especially with Jack Eichel out indefinitely. The Devils have some fight to them, the Sabres are already dead.

Capitals vs. Islanders (7:00)

These two teams are sitting in the top spots of the East and having awesome seasons. Earlier this season in only two games between these them, the Caps won both games 3-2 and then 6-3. I’d lean the Islanders tonight to beat coach Barry Trotz’s former team but I think this game’s too close to bet.

Penguins vs. Bruins (7:00)

Prior to last night’s 4-1 Penguins win, the Bruins were 2-0 against Pittsburgh earlier this season. All three games have gone under. With Tuukka Rask out injured and Halak needed a rest night, the Bruins are starting rookie Dan Vladar in goal tonight in his first NHL start. Vladar’s leading the AHL this season but sucked in his one appearance last season during the bubble when he got lit up by Tampa where he allowed 3 goals on 15 shots in 28 minutes when he came in off the bench. The Penguins have been hot lately with 8 wins in their last 10 games and the Bruins have struggled as of late, going 3-5-2 in their last 10. The B’s also don’t have a win in their last seven trips to Pittsburgh. Going with the Pens ML tonight for a unit. I’d lean the under but definitely not betting it with Vladar in goal.

Red Wings vs. Hurricanes (7:30)

Carolina’s having a very good season while the Red Wings are only ahead of Buffalo for last place in the NHL. In Sunday night’s game, Carolina got out to a 2-0 lead that they rode to beat Detroit 2-1 for their second win in two games this season against the Red Wings. Back on Carolina ML for a unit.

Wild vs. Coyotes (8:00)

Minnesota is 3-1 this season against Arizona and are one of this year’s most surprising teams riding hot on rookie Kirill Kaprizov. Minnesota should win again here so I’m going with a half unit each on the Minnesota ML and team total over 3.5. If Minnesota wins, I’d expect them to get four or more goals past Anti Raanta.

Stars vs. Lightning (8:30)

Tampa just didn’t bother to show up yesterday as they lost 4-1 to Nashville in a shitty early game. I think this is a perfect bounce back spot for the Bolts in another rematch of last year’s Cup Final against a much worse than last year Dallas team. In two games between these teams this year, Dallas got shut out in both of those games as Tampa won 5-0 and 4-0. I’m going with two units each here on the Tampa ML.

Avalanche vs. Ducks (9:00)

Colorado’s the way better team here but have been so inconsistent this season. In the four games they’ve played this year, these teams are 2-2 and three of those four games were decided in a shootout. Colorado should win but with Hunter Miska confirmed in goal, no chance in hell I’m laying the -290 on the Avs tonight and am just completely skipping this game.
