NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/20/21

Yesterday I didn’t even watch a minute of hockey as it was the best day of the year to just bet every single basketball game. Regardless though, my hockey picks went 2-1 for a 1.94 unit win. Today there’s a ton of NHL games, that I’m again not gonna watch but hopefully crush some winners.

Devils vs. Penguins (1:00)

Scott Wedgewood made 40 saves against the Penguins on Thursday night as the Devils beat the Pens 3-2. Pittsburgh’s the much better team here and I’d expect them to answer back with a win tonight. On the Pens for a unit.

Panthers vs. Predators (2:00)

Florida’s been really overachieving this year and the Preds have kind of sucked. On Thursday night, Nashville beat Florida in a barn burner 2-1. So far this season, Florida’s 3-2 against the Predators this season. I’m going to Florida here for half a unit.

Avalanche vs. Wild (3:00)

With a healthy lineup on Thursday night, Colorado beat Minnesota convincingly 5-1. I think Minnesota’s still a decent team, so I’m skipping this game. I’d lean Colorado wins though.

Lightning vs. Blackhawks (4:00)

Tampa’s now 5-1 against Chicago this season after their 4-2 win on Thursday night. Chicago’s been overachieving expectations for them this season and has played decent including against the Bolts, but Tampa should be able to overpower them again. Half a unit on the Bolts.

Islanders vs. Flyers (7:00)

After getting blown out by the Rangers earlier this week, the Flyers got out to a 3-0 lead against the Isles Thursday night, before the Islanders came back to tie it up. The Flyers ultimately won that game on a late goal from Oskar Lindblom. I’m back on the Islanders tonight for a unit.

Hurricanes vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)

Carolina’s the much better team here and are coming off two straight losses to Detroit and then Columbus on Thursday night where they lost in overtime. The Canes should bounce back here and I’m backing them for half a unit.

Red Wings vs. Stars (7:00)

The Red Wings beat Dallas 3-2 on Thursday night for their first win against the Stars in four games this season. Both of these teams blow this year. I’d think Dallas wins this one, but I’m skipping the game entirely. Not worth laying -190 on the Stars.

Canadiens vs. Canucks (7:00)

Last night I was one goal short of hitting the over in the Canucks 3-2 overtime win against Montreal. Montreal’s 5-3 against the Canucks this season, but just like yesterday I’m not betting on them to win with their struggles this year on both ends of the ice. After last night, the over 6 is 6-2-1. I’ll take the over here for half a unit as both teams should score on the back end of this back to back.

Maple Leafs vs. Flames (7:00)

The Leafs are currently on their worst skid of the season, losing their last three straight and six of their last seven games. I’m skipping this game. The Leafs should be winning but over that span of seven games, their only trailing Buffalo as the worst team in the NHL in that stretch. Toronto has the talent that they should be winning but until they figure it out I’m skipping these matchups.

Capitals vs. Rangers (7:00)

Last night, the Caps scored two goals in the last seven minutes of the game to win 2-1 to get their first win against the Rangers since November 2019 (NYR was 4-0 against the Caps in that span). With how close they played yesterday where I sort of lucked into a Caps win, I’m skipping this game.

Ducks vs. Coyotes (8:00)

The Ducks broke their four game losing streak with a 3-2 win against the Yotes yesterday. Neither of these teams are gonna even sniff the playoffs and to me this game’s a dice roll. Arizona’s 3-2 this year against the Ducks and all five games were decided by a goal. I’d lean Anaheim +1.5 here, but no chance I’m laying the -230 on that. Skipping the game.

Sharks vs. Blues (9:00)

The Blues finally broke their five game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Sharks on Big Daddy Vladdy’s shootout winner last night. With Villi Husso likely in goal for the Blues, skipping this game. The Blues haven’t given me and confidence in betting them this year especially with how inconsistent they’ve been.

Oilers vs. Jets (10:00)

Thursday night in a close game, the Oilers edged out the Jets for a 2-1 win to take the series lead 3-2 for the season. These teams are both pretty decent and will both likely make the playoffs in a weak North division. They’ve played close this season, so I’m skipping this game. Should be a good one.
