NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/28/21

Yesterday I screwed up some hedge math but the screw up actually ended up working great for me as I got exactly 6 goals in Calgary/Winnipeg to have a great winning day again for around a +4 unit day. There’s six NHL games today to try to get closer to even on the season to keep this incredible comeback going this month.

Capitals vs. Rangers (12:00)

Starting the day at noon with betting the underdog here on the Rangers for half a unit. This year the Rangers are 3-1 against the Caps and the one they lost was a 2-1 game where the Caps scored 2 goals in the last 7 minutes of the game. I think this trends worth noting as I still think the Caps are the better team here. The Caps are 9-1 in their last 10 games and 7-1 in their last 7 at home. The Rangers are playing their best hockey of the year and are coming off a late game loss to the Flyers yesterday so I could see them bounce back here. I also considered the +1.5 here, but at -190, I’d rather just risk a half unit on the moneyline.

Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets (3:00)

This season these crappy teams have played pretty evenly and are 2-2 against each other. Most recently with the Red Wings beating the Jackets 3-1 yesterday. The under is also 4-0 this season in these games. I’d think Columbus, who’s generally better than the Red Wings bounces back today with a win but I’m not betting it. I will take the under here for half a unit though.

Blues vs. Ducks (5:00)

The Blues were supposed to be a good team this year and have the talent to be a playoff contender but they’ve been real disappointing this year. The Ducks just blow and are the worst team in the NHL behind the abysmal Buffalo Sabres. This season as they should be, the Blues are 4-1 against the Ducks. That loss was on Thursday night as the Ducks crushed the Blues 4-1. Binnington should be back in goal tonight so the Blues should answer back with a win but no chance I’m laying -210 on this inconsistent of a team at this point in the season.

Bruins vs. Devils (5:30)

Yesterday, the Bruins played down to the shitty Sabres level and it took till late in the third period to get a win in what should’ve been a relatively easy game. This year, the Devils have had the Bruins number and despite not being nearly as good of a team, the Devils are 4-1 against the B’s and that loss was in a shootout in the first week of the season. The Bruins have generally struggled for their talent this season and are without that rat Brad Marchant who’s out on the COVID protocol. Despite how bad they’ve been this year, the Devils stick around with teams. I don’t really expect them to win today but they should keep it close. Taking Devils +1.5 for a unit and the under, which is 5-0 in games this season for half a unit.

Stars vs. Panthers (6:00)

It was good to see Florida’s offense clicking again as they beat Dallas 4-3 in overtime last night. I think Florida’s the better team this season with how disappointing Dallas has been but with how close they played yesterday, I’m skipping this game.

Predators vs. Blackhawks (8:00)

The Preds have won an impressive 6 of their last 7 games including a 3-1 win to get their third in three games against Chicago this season. I think Chicago’s the better team especially offensively, but its tough to bet against Nashville’s win streak right now so I’ll skip this game. I would take Nashville +1.5 but that’s too expensive for me to want to lay the -250 on.

.5u Rangers ML (+130)

.5u Columbus/Detroit under 5.5 (-135)

1u Devils +1.5 (-160)

.5u Bruins/Devils under 5.5 (-125)

Record: 167-139-1 (-8.86 units)
