NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 4/8/21

Yesterday fucking sucked with Vegas and Colorado having surprising losses. Back at it on tonight’s NHL slate.

Sabres vs. Devils (7:00)

The Sabres shockingly haven’t been bad lately with three wins in their last four games, including at 5-3 win against the Devils on Tuesday night. I would slightly lean the Devils to bounce back with a win here but they’ve been bad this year too and with Buffalo being 4-3 this season against New Jersey and Aaron Dell likely in goal for NJ tonight, I’ll skip this game. I’d also lean the over here.

Islanders vs. Flyers (7:00)

Lou Lamoriello made a huge move yesterday of trading to get Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac to make the Islanders even more of a Cup contender yesterday before the deadline. The Isles are the much superior team here but somehow they are 3-3 against the broken Flyers this year (four of those six games went to overtime, so they stay close). I’ll take the Isles for half a unit.

Rangers vs. Penguins (7:00)

Including Tuesday night’s 5-2 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday night, the Penguins are 5-2 this season against NY. On Tuesday, I thought the even money price on Pittsburgh was too cheap. I was proven wrong, obviously. I do still think the Penguins are the better team here and should win tonight, so I’ll take them again for half a unit at +110. If I lose again, so be it. Can’t skip that value.

Capitals vs. Bruins (7:00)

This is a possible first round playoff matchup in the East. In his first start on Tuesday night against the Flyers, Bruins rookie Jeremy Swayman had a 40 save night as the B’s won 4-2. He’s back in goal tonight but in a much tougher matchup for them against the Caps. I’ll skip this game, but I’d lean that Washington wins.

Hurricanes vs. Panthers (7:00)

These two very good teams are locked into the playoffs and along with Tampa, are both battling for first place in the Central. This season Carolina is 4-1 against Florida and I’d lean for them to win tonight but I think this is too tight of a matchup to want to bet on it.

Blue Jackets vs. Lightning (7:00)

Tampa hasn’t been on a great skid lately as they’ve lost 5 of their last 7 games, all as pretty big favorites. They’ve also struggled against Columbus, giving us glimpses of the playoff series two years ago where Columbus swept Tampa after the Bolts had the best statistical season in NHL history. Columbus is 3-2 against Tampa this season, but Tampa’s the way better team. I’d lean the Lightning to bounce back from their loss to the Jackets on Tuesday, but no chance I’m laying the -210 here.

Canadiens vs. Jets (7:00)

These teams are both pretty much locked into the playoffs in the North. The Jets are 4-2 against Montreal this season and I think they’d win but this is a pretty good matchup that could go either way. I’ll skip this one.

Senators vs. Oilers (7:00)

Edmonton gave me my only win on yesterday’s slate as they won 4-2 on a Leon Draisaitl hat trick, to give them their eighth win in eight games this season against the Sens. I’ll take the Oilers again today for a unit to make it 9/9 against Ottawa.

Red Wings vs. Predators (7:30)

The Preds are still rolling hot as they just got their tenth win in their last twelve games in a shootout win against Detroit on Tuesday night. This season Nashville is 5-2 against the Red Wings and I’d expect that to continue tonight. I’ll take the Predators for a unit.

Blackhawks vs. Stars (8:00)

Chicago still has a small chance at making the playoffs if Nashville falters and need as many points they could possibly get. Dallas shockingly blows this year after going to the Cup Finals last year. Chicago’s 4-1 against the Stars this year and I think they win again tonight but I’m not betting this game.
