Last night’s slate was fantastic. I went 8-1 to win 7.5 more units, getting me to positive money on the year! Hopefully I can sustain that now and start stacking cash the rest of the season. 9-0 was inches away from winning last night as in the closing seconds of the game, a great defensive play from the Sharks kept a Vegas shot from making it into the net and it took the Knights till a shootout to win. So fucking happy to see that + in front of the units on my record now. Tonight there’s eight NHL games to keep winning.
Sabres vs. Bruins (6:30)
The Sabres have played much better recently and they’re not an auto bet against them for a huge amount of money. The Bruins are 3-0 against the Sabres this season, which isn’t really a surprise. Two of those games were decided by a 3-2 score (most recently in a shootout) and all three games have gone under 5.5. The B’s should win this one but at -300 and even -205 on the regulation line, I think the price on here is too expensive to bet on. I’d lean the under too but the Sabres defending and goaltending worries me on that a bit. Skipping this game. Go Sabres!
Islanders vs. Rangers (7:00)
There’s been some really good games this season between the two New York teams. The Islanders are 3-2 against the Rangers this season and I think they’re the better team. I think the Isles are the better team here but the Rangers have been hot lately. I’m skipping this game entirely and would lean the under on this one.
Lightning vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
These two teams battling for the top spot in the Central Division have matched up very close this season. After last night’s 3-2 overtime win for Tampa, the Bolts are now 4-3 against the Canes. I think tonight Carolina answers back with a win but wouldn’t bet on this close of a game. This should also be a preview of a likely Central Division Finals series in the playoffs.
Panthers vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)
Florida has had a fantastic season and after last night’s 4-2 win they are 6-1 this season against Columbus. Top college and World Juniors Team USA goalie Spencer Knight will start his first NHL game for the Panthers tonight, which gives me some uncertainty. At -210, I think thats pricey to bet on a kid’s first NHL game. No matter how good he has looked where we’ve seen him, the NHL even against a shitty team like the Jackets, is still a huge jump. You’re playing against the best hockey players in the world. I’ll take Florida for half a unit cause as a team they should beat Columbus but I’m not gonna smash this one with Knight starting.
Penguins vs. Devils (7:00)
The Penguins are coming off a Sunday loss to the Sabres that prevented me from having a monster winning day. They looked flat and Buffalo outworked them in every aspect of that game. Pittsburgh deserved to lose. The Devils are playing some of the worst hockey in the NHL recently with six straight losses and only one win in their last eleven games (and two wins in their last 14). The Penguins are 3-2 against the Devils this season and have hit the puck line in all three wins. I’ll take Pittsburgh in regulation for 2 units.
Stars vs. Red Wings (8:30)
Last night Dallas beat the Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout for their fourth win in five games against them. I’d lean the Stars to win again here but at -260, I don’t think thats worth betting. Sometimes the best bet on a game is no bet at all.
Canucks vs. Maple Leafs (9:00)
The Leafs are playing a shitty stretch of hockey and are on a four game losing streak. Most recently on Sunday night where they lost 3-2 in overtime to the Canucks as -350 favorites in Vancouver’s first game in almost a month. David Rittich is making his secondary start since being traded to the Leafs (the first was a 3-2 OT loss against his former team in Calgary). The season series between these teams is tied up at three wins a piece, with the Leafs winning the first three and the Canucks winning the last three. I don’t trust Toronto whatsoever, so there’s no shot at betting them at -320 tonight. Pretty great odds on Vancouver here as a dog but I’m not betting this game at all. The Leafs should win.
Kings vs. Ducks (10:00)
I could not care less about this game. In only three games between them this year, the Ducks are 2-1 against the Kings and two of those three games have gone over. I guess I’d lean the Kings and over in this one but no chance I’m betting or watching this game.
