Last night was profitable, going 5-3 for +2.32 units, but it should’ve been another monster night. Nashville blew a 4-1 loss quicker than Jim in American Pie as they gave up 3 quick goals in less than 3 minutes in the 3rd period and went on to lose in OT. The worst way to lose a hockey game for a big swing. Swept the Minnesota game hitting the ML, TT, -1.5 and -2.5 and Vegas had a solid win to guarantee a profit on the night. The Oilers/Habs game at night was disappointing too with four goals in the last twelve minutes (2 goals in the last 2:12) of the game to lose the under. But still a winning night for a few units, so can’t complain too much. Huge slate of games tonight.
Sabres vs. Bruins (7:00)
The Sabres are playing much better since firing Ralph Krueger but they’re still the worst team in hockey. I overthought it a bit with the hometown bias last game as the Bruins won 2-0. After that game, the B’s are now 4-0 on the season against Buffalo. The ML is way too expensive for my taste on this game, so I’ll take a unit on the Bruins in regulation. I’d lean the under as well, which is 4-0 in the four games between these teams this season.
Jets vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
These are the two best teams in Canada and pretty much locked into playoffs. The Leafs are 4-3 this season against the Jets but are on a pretty bad losing streak of five straight games. I’d slightly lean Winnipeg in this game but wouldn’t bet on it.
Islanders vs. Capitals (7:00)
This game could be a preview of the Eastern Division Finals in the playoffs with these teams tied at the top of the East and playing their next three games against each other. They’ve played some awesome games this year, with the home team winning in all five games they played. The Caps won the first three games in the series and the Isles won the last two. This game’s a coin flip to me that I’d lean the Islanders to win and the over on but I don’t think there’s any edge in betting either side to the winner in this one. Besides the last game between these teams where the Isles won 1-0 on 4/6, the Caps have scored at least three goals in the four games against the Caps prior to that. I’ll take the Capitals team total over 2.5 for a unit.
Lightning vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)
Even though Tampa’s the way better team here, they’ve always struggled against the shittier team in Columbus that swept them to ruin their best statistical season in NHL history two years ago and they’re 3-3 against them this year. Tampa should win this one, but with how they’ve played the Jackets this year and Curtis McElhinney likely starting in goal tonight, I’ll skip this game. No way I’m laying the -260 on the Bolts. I’d lean the over here too but not enough to bet on it.
Panthers vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
Carolina and Florida are tied for first in the Central Division, with Tampa right behind them. Carolina’s 5-1 this season against the Panthers and covered the puck line in the last three games. I’ll take Carolina ML for a unit here and a half unit on the PL just on value alone.
Penguins vs. Devils (7:00)
The Devils have played the worst stretch of hockey this past month in the NHL. One Tuesday night, the Penguins got out to a 6-0 lead before almost blowing that game as they allowed six goals in the third period and turned it into a sweat for a 7-6 win. I’ll take the Penguins in regulation for 2 units. I don’t hate the puck line here but just don’t see any value in it at -120.
Rangers vs. Flyers (7:00)
These teams are 3-3 against each other in a large variety of different games. I had big expectations for these two teams going into this season and they were largely disappointing. I’d lean the Rangers here but wouldn’t bet on it.
Red Wings vs. Stars (7:30)
For as shitty and disappointing that Dallas has been this season, they’re only 2 points behind Nashville for the final playoff spot in the Central and have played well recently winning their last four games (against Detroit and Columbus, which isn’t really saying much). They’re 5-1 against the Red Wings this season. I think the -210 is too expensive on the Stars tonight for the ML, but I’ll take Dallas in regulation for a unit.
Blues vs. Avalanche (8:00)
Tonight’s the Avs first game back from a COVID delay and haven’t played since the 14th. They’re going to be without Grubauer for a week or two, who is still in COVID protocol, so it’s Devin Dubnyk vs. Binnington tonight. The Avs look like the best team in hockey and they’re 4-1 in five games against the Blues this year. Even without Grubauer, there’s too much value in Colorado not to bet on them tonight. But I’ll tread lighter on them with just a unit.
Canucks vs. Senators (10:00)
Since coming off their almost month long COVID delay, the Canucks are 2-0 with two games against the shitty Leafs. Vancouver’s 5-0 this season against the Senators. I think this game’s closer than the season series shows and although I’d lean Vancouver here, I wouldn’t bet on it.
