Disappointing night to end the win streak as Tampa lost in overtime 6-5 and the Vegas game went over. Not a bad night for my futures and series bets though as both Pittsburgh and Vegas won. Four games tonight as these first round series progress. Let’s get some winners.
Game 4: Bruins vs. Capitals (6:30)
All three games in this series have gone to overtime and in Game 3, the Bruins took a 2-1 series lead with a double OT win at home. This series has been fantastic. I’d expect the Bruins take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series at home tonight. I’ll take the B’s moneyline for a unit. All three games in this series have gone to overtime, so the +330 draw in regulation prop isn’t a terrible bet but I don’t really expect that to happen four times in a row, so I’m going to skip it.
Game 3: Predators vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
The Carolina Hurricanes have cruised to a 2-0 series lead over the Preds with a 5-2 win in Game 1 and a 3-0 shutout win in Game 2, with two clutch goals in the last minute of the game to lock up the puck line cover. The series shifts to Smashville tonight, which has an incredible energy during the playoffs. I think Nashville keeps it closer in this game at home, but I still expect Carolina to get the win here. I’ll keep it simple here and just stick with the Carolina ML for 2 units.
Game 2: Oilers vs. Jets (9:00)
The Edmonton Oilers were disappointing in Game 1 on Wednesday night as they lost 4-1 at home while outshooting the Jets 33-22. This was a lot closer of a game than the score seems as it took till almost 10 minutes left in the game for the Jets to break a 1-1 tie, before locking it up with two goals in the last two minutes of the game. Even though its still very early in the series, this is a must win for Edmonton at home in Game 2. They don’t want to go on the road to Winnipeg down in the series 2-0. I think McDavid and Draisaitl, who didn’t get on the score sheet in Game 1 show up tonight for an Oilers win. I’ll take Edmonton ML for a unit and expect the series to be tied going to Winnipeg for Game 3.
Game 3: Blues vs. Avalanche (9:30)
The Stanley Cup favorite Colorado Avalanche have been way too much for the Blues to handle in the first two games of this series, where the Avs had impressive three goal wins in both of those games, capped off by a Nathan MacKinnon hat trick to close out Game 2’s 6-3 win. On the road tonight in St. Louis, the Avs are a bit cheaper than they were in Games 1 and 2 in Denver. I’ll take Colorado in regulation for 2 units and the ML for a unit. I also considered the alternated -2.5 puck line but I just don’t see enough value in sweating out another 3 goal win.
