Last night was good winning my only bet of the night on Tampa, who took a 2-0 lead in their series on the road before going to Tampa for Game 3, setting up my series bet on them nicely. Tonight we have Game 1 in the North Finals for Jets/Habs and Game 2 in the West for Colorado/Vegas.
Game 1: Jets vs. Canadiens (7:30)
With the Jets sweeping the Oilers and the Habs beating the Leafs in Game 7, tonight kicks off the most unlikely matchup for the North Division Finals. In my blog breaking down the whole series, I said I think the Jets have the edge in this series so I’m going with two units on them to win the series along with a unit on the Game 1 moneyline with the Jets coming into this game with over a week of rest while Montreal just played Game 7 against Toronto on Monday night.
Game 2: Avalanche vs. Golden Knights (10:00)
In Game 1 of this series on Sunday night, the Colorado Avalanche came out flying in a huge 7-1 win to set the tone of the series. I don’t think what happened in that game was what to expect out of the rest of this series though and I’m not overreacting to the blowout. I think Vegas keeps this game much closer and plays a lot better defensively. It interested me that Vegas started Robin Lehner in goal for Game 1 after Flower was amazing in the Wild series but I understood giving Fleury a rest for a game when you have two of the top five goalies in the NHL. I’d assume that Vezina Trophy finalist Marc Andre Fleury is back in the net tonight, who was better this season against Colorado than Lehner was in the regular season. I’d also lean the under here, which was the trend when these teams played in the regular season, even though Colorado crushed the over by themselves in Game 1. From Game 1 that had bad blood around the Reevo hit and had 74 total penalty minutes, I’m guessing that spills over to tonight and there’s a lot of PIMs again and this ends up being a fantastic and entertaining game to watch. I’ll take the Avs for a unit here in what I expect to be a much closer game but Colorado still beats out the Knights tonight on home ice to take a 2-0 lead to the Fortress for Game 3.
