NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 11/1/21

Yesterday was a good hockey day, going 3-1 for a 1.58 unit win (I sucked at football though). Tonight there’s only a quick three game slate of NHL games.

Lightning vs. Capitals (7:00)

This should be a good game between two very good teams. The Capitals still have not lost in regulation this season with a 5-0-3 record, they’re fifth in scoring in the NHL, averaging 3.75 goals per game with Ovi leading the league in goals and only trailing Connor McDavid in points. They’ve also been good defensively, seventh best in the NHL allowing just 2.38 goals per game. Tampa got off to a slow start to the season on both ends of the ice but seem to have found their form, coming into this game with back to back 5-1 wins over Arizona and Pittsburgh. The first time these teams played earlier this year, Tampa won 2-1 in a shootout. Statistically, I think the Caps on the road are the better pick here but I’d sort of lean Tampa in this one. I’d also lean the over but I’m not betting that either. Sometimes the best bet on a game is no bet at all and this one seems to be that. Should be some awesome hockey to watch in this matchup.

Blackhawks vs. Senators (8:00)

The Blackhawks stink. They’re 0-7-2 without a win yet this season and they’re being outscored an astounding 29-7 on the season. Bad on both ends of the ice. They’re third worst in the NHL in goals scored per game (1.89 average) and only better than Arizona on goals against allowed at a ridiculously high 4.11 per game. They’re a bad team in a wreck of an organization. The Sens aren’t a great team at 3-4, averaging 2.71 goals per game while allowing 2.86. The entire betting industry seems to be on the Blackhawks tonight since they have to win eventually, but I’d actually lean Ottawa in this game. They’re a gritty team that grinds out games even when they lose. At +120 on the road, I don’t really see any value of betting it. Ottawa isn’t a good team by any means and I don’t think its worth betting even though I’d lean they win.

Oilers vs. Kraken (9:30)

The Oilers have had a great start to the season, with a 6-1 record. Connor McDavid is the NHL point leader with 15 already and averaging a goal per game. The Oilers are third in the NHL scoring an average of 4 goals per game. Seattle isn’t a great team with a 3-5-1 record and coming into this game on the second end of a back to back after losing 3-1 to the Rangers at home last night. Edmonton should win this game and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit.

Game Bets

1u Oilers in regulation (-150)

Record (Regular Season): 52-49-1 (-2.98 units)
