Last night my leans on all six games on the NHL slate all were correct which is a great sign that I’m getting back on track with my picks. Tonight there’s just two games, both of which I’m staying off of and will likely jump back in with picks on tomorrow’s big slate.
Lightning vs. Islanders (7:00)
These two teams meet for the first time again since Game 7 of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals where the Bolts knocked off the Isles with a late third period short handed goal, winning 1-0 to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals, where they cruised through the Habs in five games. Tampa’s 7-3-3 this season coming into this game off a 3-2 overtime win against Florida on Saturday night. They’re averaging 3 goals per game and allowing 2.92 goals per game. The Islanders come into this game at 5-4-2 with a slow start to the season and just lost in a 4-0 shutout to the Devils on Thursday night. They’ve struggled to score, averaging a sixth lowest 2.45 goals per game. They’ve been great defensively though with fantastic goaltending from Ilya Sorokin (who has three shutouts on the season already) and are allowing the seventh fewest goals per game (2.55). I’d lean Tampa and the under in this game.
Blue Jackets vs. Red Wings (7:00)
Both of these teams have been playing decent hockey this season. Columbus is 7-5 coming into this game with back to back losses to the Rangers and the Caps. They’re tenth best in scoring, averaging 3.08 goals per game but they’re also allowing a not great 3.08 goals per game. Detroit is 8-6-2, coming into this game with four wins in their last five, averaging 2.88 goals per game and allowing 3.13 goals per game. I’d slightly lean the Blue Jackets here but wouldn’t bet on it and I sort of like the over, although I’d assume this game ends right around 6 total goals which doesn’t give much edge on either side of the over/under.
None tonight. Will likely have some bets again tomorrow.
Record (Regular Season): 79-90-3 (-20.12 units)
