Yesterday started off pretty lousy for me, with a bit of a comeback in the evening before Vegas let me down to close out the night, blowing a two goal lead with 2:06 left in the game including the tying goal with just a second remaining. I ended up going 5-7-1 to lose 5.88 units. Tonight we only have one horrible game between two of the lousiest teams in the NHL, Blackhawks vs. Flyers. I’m taking the night off and will dive back in for the last week of the regular season on tomorrow’s huge 13 game slate.
Blackhawks vs. Flyers (8:00)
The NHL has seemed to pick the absolutely worst matchups possible for their showcase slates where they have one one or two games and tonight’s is no difference with this terrible matchup between the Flyers and Blackhawks, two of the worst teams in the NHL. The Flyers are on the second half of a back to back after pulling off a surprising 4-1 win over their rival Penguins yesterday (several unit loss for me). That was their second win in a row after winning 6-3 in Montreal on Thursday night to end a six game losing streak but this team sucks at 25-43-11 and they have just four wins in their last 15 games. Philly’s been horrible on both ends of the ice, scoring a sixth fewest in the NHL average of 2.62 goals per game and allowing an average of 3.58 goals per game, sixth most in the NHL. The Blackhawks are just as bad with a 26-42-11 record and they only have two wins in their last 14 games. They have one of the worst offenses in the NHL, averaging only 2.59 goals per game, third fewest in the NHL and with a horrible defense and no goaltending since trading Fleury at the trade deadline, they’ve allowed a seventh most in the NHL average of 3.57 goals per game. When these teams played earlier this season in Philly on April 5th, the Flyers won 4-3 in a back and forth game. I’d slightly lean the Flyers and the over in this game but wouldn’t even consider betting on it, so I’ll give myself a nice night off.
None, enjoy the night off!
