NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 5/15/22

My bets yesterday on the first three game 7s of the weekend went like shit, losing 7.94 units. But at least the Leafs lost in Game 7 of the first round AGAIN! Never gets old. Onto tonight where we have the other two Game 7s of the first round. Let’s bounce back.

Game 7: Rangers vs. Penguins (7:00)

The Rangers rattled off huge back to back 5-3 wins to go from down 3-1 in this series to forcing Game 7 at home in MSG today. Before this series, without Tristan Jarry in goal, I expected New York to win the series. After a triple overtime win for the Penguins in Game 1 where backup goalie Casey DeSmith went out injured, I doubled down on the Rags not expecting Louis Domingue to keep up in goal with Igor Shesterkin. That’s when the series changed though and Igor got ran out of the net with the Penguins winning big, scoring seven goals each in games 3 and 4. Going into Game 5, I thought the Rangers were pretty much done and I successfully started hedging against my series bets with the Penguins TT each game. That crushed for me, with the Rangers winning games 5 and 6 while still cashing my team total hedges. Now, along with the goaltending issues for the Pens, they’re without the core of their franchise, Sidney Crosby who left with a concussion after a hit from Jacob Trouba in Game 5. Both Jarry and Sid are listed as game time decisions for tonight but I doubt either of them play. I think the Rangers get the series win tonight at home in an electric MSG atmosphere to come all the way back from down 3-1 in the series. I’ll still hedge my series bets here with 2.5 units on the Penguins TT over 2.5. So ideally the Rangers win this game while once again allowing 3 goals. I’ve been crushing overs in this series, but with how Game 7s slow down and that there’s a lot less risk taking, I’ll stay off that tonight.

Game 7: Flames vs. Stars (9:30)

I thought Calgary was going to close out this series with a win on the road in Game 6, but the Stars rallied around their home crowd and won 4-2 to extend the series to Game 7 tonight and lose my series bet on Calgary to win this in six games or less. Going into this series, I expected the Flames to burn out (get it) the Stars quickly but that obviously hasn’t been the case in these low scoring battles. Calgary’s still a much better team here and they should finish this series with a win tonight on home ice. I think the ML at PRICE is too expensive, but I will take the Flames in regulation for 1.5 units. I flipped the script on successfully betting the unders in this series and got a win with the over in Game 6. Game 7s have trended under, going 3-0 yesterday and the series has trended under so I’m right back on the under 5.5 tonight for 2 units. Bring on the Battle of Alberta for the second round!!
