I’m always trying to find new topics and series to blog and make video content about to keep growing this site. I am a huge Bills fan and don’t really write much NFL stuff (mainly cause I’m not great at gambling on it), so what could be more perfect piece of content to get involved with it than to do weekly recaps with my reactions to each game. Today’s is a bit later since its the first one a day late after the prime time game on my birthday to open the season, but I’ll try to get these out quickly after each game, especially when we play at 1 on Sundays.
Going into the season, the Bills have had easily their highest expectations since the 90s and they enter the year as the Super Bowl favorites at just +600. Last year we came 13 seconds away from the AFC Championship in the best football game I’ve ever seen against the Chiefs. So it’s Super Bowl or bust this year.
Usually I’m pretty pessimistic when Todd from Cheektowaga calls WGR and says the Bills are gonna win the Super Bowl every year, even back when we were going like 7-9 with disappointing seasons. But this year I’m all in. I realistically think we can do it this year. And I put way more than I ever expected to do on futures for them to win it all and bring the first Super Bowl championship to our city of Buffalo.
With eyes of the whole football world on the Bills heading into LA to face the Super Bowl Champion Rams, Buffalo put on a hell of a show, dominating the Rams 31-10 on the road to ruin their banner raising and ring ceremony in SoFi Stadium.
Let’s get into the game.
The first drive of the game was absolute perfection. Josh Allen went 5/5 as he drove the Bills 75 yards capped off with a 26 yards touchdown pass to Gabe Davis for the first touchdown of the NFL season. Josh was phenomenal in the first half but unfortunately, a bobbled catch by Isaiah McKenzie turned into a Rams interception that was totally not Allen’s fault in the slightest. The defense was great to start off the game, forcing punts on the Rams first two drives. James Cook fumbled the ball on the Bills third drive on a sloppy play but the Bills defense got it back quickly with Dane Jackson picking off Matt Stafford on the Rams third drive. The Bills tacked on a field goal to make it 10-0 before the Rams scored their first touchdown of the game. We got sloppy as the first half ended with another interception and then giving up a Rams field goal to go into half time tied.
The second half was fantastic for the Bills. The defense was lights out, forcing two punts and picking off Stafford another two times with picks by Jordan Poyer and Boogie Basham. The offense was very good too with a four yard touchdown pass from Josh to Isaiah McKenzie on the Bills first drive of the second half, Josh calling his own number and running it in four yards to add a rushing TD to his stat line and then finishing off with a 53 yard BOMB to Stefon Diggs (racking up some nice fantasy points for me, although no one cares about my or anyone’s fantasy team). The only lousy note of the second half was the run game getting sloppy and Zach Moss fumbling the ball. But besides that, we looked great taking down the defending champs.
I was very impressed with the defense and Josh looks like the MVP frontrunner in his incredible performance under the bright lights. This team rightfully should be the Super Bowl champions and I think we’re winning it all this year.
GO BILLS!!!
