Profitable day on the NHL yesterday, one game short of being a monster night, going 3-1 to win 1.38 units. Today we have a quick five game slate for Sunday, let’s get another winning night!
Wild vs. Coyotes (2:00)
Minnesota’s coming off a 4-3 loss at home to the Leafs on Friday and are now 9-9-2 on the season and have been largely disappointing this year. The Coyotes are one of the worst teams in the NHL and come into today’s game with a 7-9-3 record with only one win in their last six games. This is a lottery team and they’re coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to Detroit on Friday night where they forced overtime with a goal (massive swing for me) with 25 seconds left in regulation but ultimately lost. Arizona’s struggled on both ends of the ice. I’d expect the Wild to get what should be a relatively easy win today at home against the Yotes but in no way do I think they’re worth laying the -278 and I don’t trust them enough to even bet the regulation line. I’ll just lay off this game entirely.
Blackhawks vs. Jets (7:00)
The Blackhawks after their 4-2 start to the season have been horrible since, dropping to 6-10-4 on the season and coming into tonight’s game on a six game losing streak with only two wins in their last 14 games. They’re coming off a 3-2 shootout loss at home to the Habs on Friday afternoon (winner for me). This team is terrible, they’ll be sellers at the deadline and will be a definite lottery team by the end of the season as they’ve struggled mightily on both ends of the ice. The Jets, coming off a 5-4 overtime win in Dallas on Friday night have been very good this season. They’ve been one of the best defensive teams in the league backstopped by Connor Hellebuyck and have been capable enough offensively. The first time these teams played this season in Winnipeg, the Jets got an easy 4-0 shutout win on November 5th. I really like the Jets to get another win here on the road in Chicago. I’ll take them for 1.5 units each on the ML and the team total over 3.
Ducks vs. Kraken (8:00)
The Kraken have been very impressive to me this season after a very lousy inaugural season last year. They’re 12-5-3 with a 6-1-1 record on the road and come into tonight’s game on a four game win streak after a solid 4-2 win in Vegas on Friday night. They’ve improved immensely on both ends of the ice from last year. The Ducks on the other hand are the worst team in the NHL with a 6-14-1 record, winning only one game in regulation all season. They’re coming off a 5-1 loss at home to the lowly Senators on Friday. These teams played on the opening night of the season in Anaheim with a 5-4 overtime win for the Ducks. I don’t see that happening again. I’ll lay the juice here and take the Kraken for 2 units. I’d lean the Kraken TT and over as well but think the best play is just sticking with the ML.
Sharks vs. Canucks (8:00)
Last night the Canucks shocked me with a 5-1 win against the Golden Knights on the road, preventing me from a monster sweep of a day. They’ve played really good hockey their last few games with four wins in their last five to improve to 8-10-3 after a lousy start 4-9-3 start to the year. Their offense has been really solid all season but their defense and goaltending has struggled. The Sharks have been pretty lousy this season, coming into tonight’s game with a 7-13-3 record after a 5-2 loss at home against the Kings on Friday. Struggling on both ends of the ice, they’ve only been able to get one win in their last five games. I’d lean the Canucks and the over here but not enough to bet on it. I’ll lay off this game.
Kings vs. Senators (10:30)
The Senators have been terrible with a 7-12-1 record this season and got a big 5-1 win against the lousy Ducks on Friday, just their third win in their last 14 games. The Kings are 12-9-2, coming off a 5-2 win in San Jose on Friday. They’ve struggled too as of late, with just two wins in their last six games. Both of these teams have been decent enough offensively but have struggled quite a bit defensively. Even though I think LA is the way better and more talented team here, the stats line up for a pretty even matchup. I’d lean the Kings get a relatively easy win at home tonight but with how they’ve played as of late, I’d rather just lay off this game.
