I pretty much broke even on last night’s big NHL slate, going 5-5 to lose 0.25 units. Tonight we have just a quick three-game slate before a loaded 15-game slate tonight. Great job scheduling, Gary. Anyway, let’s win tonight.
Penguins vs. Jets (7:00)
I broke this game down in depth for my article on StatSalt. As I broke down in that article, with the Jets on the second half of a back-to-back, I like the Penguins to get a win here and like the over. For half a unit each, I will take the Penguins ML, Penguins TT over 3.5, and the over in this game.
Ducks vs. Devils (10:00)
This is a huge mismatch out West tonight as the Devils travel to Anaheim to face the Ducks. The Devils have been great this season with 26-12-3 record and after going on a huge slump, they’ve since won three of their last four games with a 4-1-1 record in their last six games. They’re coming off a big 5-3 win in Carolina on Tuesday night. New Jersey’s played great on both ends of the ice this season. The Ducks are one of the worst teams in the NHL this season with a 12-26-4 record. They’re coming off two blowout losses in a row, losing 6-2 against the Oilers on Wednesday night. Anaheim has been horrible on both ends of the ice. The moneyline and even the regulation line for the Devils in this game are too expensive but I’ll lay the juice here with a unit on the Devils TT over 3.5. I’ll also take the over in this game for half a unit.
Sharks vs. Oilers (10:30)
This should be a fun Pacific Division game between the Oilers and Sharks. The Oilers have a 22-18-3 record, coming off a dominant 6-2 win in Anaheim on Wednesday night (easy double winner for me). With McDavid and Draisaitl leading the way as two of the best players in the show, even without much depth behind them, the Oilers offense has been fantastic. Their defense and goaltending has been pretty lousy though. The Sharks have sucked this year. They’re 13-22-8 after a 4-3 loss in LA on Wednesday and they’ve only won three of their last twelve games. They’ve played poorly offensively and have been even worse than the Oilers have been defensively. I love the over in this game which I’ll take for a unit. I like Edmonton to get a win on the road tonight and will take the ML and the Oilers TT over 3.5 for half a unit each.
