NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 1/15/23

Nice profitable night for me on yesterday’s huge 15 game NHL slate, going 8-7 to win 1.96 units. Tonight we just have a quick three game slate with some big favorites. Let’s crush it.

Go Bills!!!

Hurricanes vs. Canucks (5:00)

This should be a fun cross-conference matchup as these teams meet for the second and final time this season, both on the second half of a back-to-back after playing last night. The Canes lead the Metro Division with a 27-9-7 record, coming off a great defensive game last night at home, beating the Penguins 2-1. That was Carolina’s second win in a row after going on a short four-game losing streak. The Hurricanes have been struggling a bit offensively, but have been elite defensively. The Canucks have been pretty bad this season and are on a four-game losing streak with only one win in their last eight games. Last night they played in a game that started with fireworks (hitting my over easily) but fell in a 4-3 loss in Florida. Vancouver’s offense has been good but they’ve struggled big time on the back end. Back on October 24th in Vancouver, the Hurricanes won 3-2 on the road. I like the Canes to get another win here at home tonight and will take them in regulation for a unit.

Rangers vs. Canadiens (5:00)

The Rangers have played great lately, coming into tonight’s game with a 24-12-7 record. On Thursday night in a crazy game, they scored the game tying goal with 0.2 seconds left in regulation after being shut out for 59.8 seconds of the game and then went on to beat Dallas 2-1 in overtime. The Rags have won five of their last six games and have gone 13-2-2 in their last 17 games, picking up at least a point in each of their last seven games. Despite improving a ton from last year, Montreal’s still been pretty terrible this season, coming into tonight’s game with a 17-23-3 record. Last night they lost 2-1 on Long Island against the Isles and they’ve only won three times in their last 15 games. The Canadiens have played very poorly on both ends of the ice this year. These teams just played a little over a week ago on January 5th in Montreal, with the Rangers getting a 4-1 win even with backup Jaro Halak in goal. I expect another relatively easy win for them tonight, especially with the Habs on the second half of a back-to-back. I’ll go with a unit each on the Rangers in regulation and the Rangers team total over 3.5.

Jets vs. Coyotes (7:00)

I broke this game down in depth for my article on StatSalt. As I said in that article, I expect a dominant win for the Jets here, especially with the struggling Coyotes in the second half of a back-to-back on the road. I’ll lay the juice here and take the Jets in regulation for 2 units.
