Last night I went 4-3 on the NHL, losing .76 units as I got fucked in overtime by the Lightning and Avalanche but the Oilers swept their game for me. Tonight we have just a two game slate. Let’s win on it!
Rangers vs. Canucks (8:00)
This isn’t a great matchup and the -240 price on it shows that. The Rangers came back from the All-Star break with a 5-4 overtime win at home against the Flames on Monday night. They’ve been great recently, surging to third place in the Metro Division with a 17-4-3 in their last 24 games. The Rags have been great defensively all season with last year’s Vezina winner Igor Shesterkin in goal and their offense has improved much more recently. The Canucks came back from the All Star break on Monday and forced overtime in their game against the Devils, but ultimately lost 5-4 in overtime. The franchise is in shambles, having only won four of their last 16 games to drop to 20-26-4 on the season. Vancouver’s been good offensively this season but they’ve been one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL. I like the Rangers to get a win here at home tonight at MSG and will take them in regulation for a unit. I like the over as well but not enough to bet it.
Stars vs. Wild (8:30)
I’d expect a fun Central Division game here, who are both in playoff spots. The Stars lead the Western Conference with a 29-13-10 record and are coming off a 3-2 shootout win on Monday night against the Stars to end a three game losing streak, all that came in overtime, all 3-2. They blew a 2-0 lead in that game but still got the win. Dallas has been fantastic on both ends of the ice this season. The Wild got beat 3-2 on Monday night in Arizona in a tight game to drop to 27-18-4 on the season and they’re tied with Colorado with the tie break for third place in the Central. They’ve been good defensively this season but have struggled a bit defensively. These teams split their first two games this season with the road team winning each of those games with the Wild getting a 6-5 shootout win in Dallas on December 4th and the Stars answering back with a 4-1 win in Minnesota on December 29th. I like Dallas to win here at home tonight and will take them for half a unit. I like the under too and will take the alternate under 6 in this game for half a unit as well.
