NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 2/13/23

The Oilers let me down big time yesterday, so I finished my day on the NHL going 2-3 to lose 4.24 units. Not great. Tonight we have a five game slate, let’s bounce back here.

Senators vs. Flames (7:30)

This has the potential to be a pretty fun cross conference game between two teams that both haven’t been great this season. The Senators are 24-24-3 on the season, coming off a 6-3 loss to the Oilers on Saturday afternoon that ended their four game win streak. Ottawa’s struggled on both ends of the ice this year. They’re now on their third string goalie with Cam Talbot still out injury and Anton Forsberg likely out for the rest of the season. The Flames have struggled this season as well with a 25-18-10 record, coming off a dominant 7-2 win in Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. Calgary’s struggled offensively this season. I like the Flames to win here on the road and will take them for half a unit. Additionally I like the over, and I’ll take the alternate over 6 here for a unit.

Wild vs. Panthers (8:00)

I broke this game down in depth with an article on StatSalt. I like the Panthers to win here in this cross-conference game on the road and will take them for half a unit. I like the over too, which I’ll also take for half a unit.

Predators vs. Coyotes (8:00)

I broke down this Central Division matchup in depth on StatSalt. As I said in that article, I like the Preds to win here and will take them in regulation for a unit. I also like the under, which I’ll take for half a unit.

Canucks vs. Red Wings (10:00)

Both of these teams have struggled this season and tonight they play in Vancouver in the second half of a home and home, after a big 5-2 win for Detroit at home on Saturday afternoon. Vancouver’s struggled quite a bit this season, with a 21-28-4 record and they have just four wins in their last 15 games. Their offense has been decent this season but they have one of the worst defenses in the NHL. The Red Wings are having only marginally better of a season with a 23-20-8 record. Their offense has struggled but they’ve been better defensively than the the Canucks. I’d lean the Red Wings win here on the road but not enough to bet them. I’ll go back to my same play I had in this matchup on Saturday and will take the over for 1.5 units.

Kings vs. Sabres (10:30)

This should be a fun game for my boys as we travel out to California for the late night road trip. The Sabres are on a disappointing three game losing streak, coming off a 7-2 blowout loss at home to the Flames on Saturday afternoon that they looked like complete shit in on both ends of the ice, coming out of the All-Star break. That loss drops us to 26-21-4 on the season. Buffalo’s offense has been one of the best in the NHL this season but we’ve really struggled defensively. The Kings, coming off a 6-0 shutout win at home on Saturday night against the Penguins improve to 29-18-7 on the season. They’re in a three way tie in points for second in the Pacific Division with the Oilers and Kraken. They’ve been good offensively as well but have struggled on the back end quite a bit. In the first game between these teams in Buffalo on December 13th, the Sabres won 6-0 after the game was tied at zero after two periods, with an incredible third period. I’d lean the Kings win this one, but not enough to bet it. I like the over though and will take it for two units.
