I had my three night win streak come to an end on the NHL yesterday, going 7-7 to lose 0.68 units. Small three game slate tonight, but let’s bounce back!
Maple Leafs vs. Panthers (7:30)
This should be a very fun game tonight in the Atlantic Division. The Leafs are comfortably in second place in the division with a 44-20-9 record, with their spot in the playoffs clinched, set for a first round matchup against the Lightning and I expect Toronto to finally get out the first round this year. They’ve played great on both ends of the ice this year and are coming off a 3-2 win in Nashville on Sunday (winner for me). The Panthers are right in the Wild Card mix, just three points back from the Penguins for the second Wild Card spot in the East. They have a 36-31-7 record but are coming into tonight’s game on a four game losing streak, after a 5-2 loss in Ottawa on Monday night (keep cashing overs though). The Leafs won both previous games between these teams this season, winning 5-4 at home in overtime on January 17th and then 6-2 on the road in Florida less than a week ago on March 23rd. I like the Leafs to win here at home and will take them for half a unit. More so though, I love the over and I’ll lay the -162 for 1.5 units on the alternate over 6.5.
Capitals vs. Islanders (7:30)
This definitely isn’t the best matchup in the Metro Division. The Islanders hold the first Wild Card spot in the East and come into tonight’s game with a 38-28-9 record, coming off a big 5-1 win against the Devils at home on Monday night. They’ve been pathetic offensively but very good defensively. The Capitals, who have just one win in their last five games and are coming off a 4-3 loss in Pittsburgh on Saturday, are outside of the playoff picture with a 34-32-8 record. They haven’t been great on either end of the ice. Washington’s been slightly better than the Isles offensively, but worse defensively. The Caps won both previous games between these teams on the road on Long Island this season, winning 4-3 in overtime on January 16th and 5-1 on March 11th. I’d slightly lean the Isles win at home and the under in this game but not enough to bet it, so I’ll stay off this game completely.
Avalanche vs. Wild (10:00)
This is a fantastic matchup between the top two teams in the Central Division and I expect this game to be a playoff-style grind. I broke this game down in depth on my article on StatSalt. Like I said in that article, I’d slightly lean the Avs win at home and the under, but not enough to bet on either. Can’t wait to watch this game thought!
