I won half a unit on my only NHL bet last night with the Avs winning easily. Tonight we have a big nine game slate, let’s make it three winning days in a row after my huge Sunday wins!
Sabres vs. Bruins (7:00)
Coming off a very boring 4-0 shutout loss in Pittsburgh on Saturday night, I don’t have a whole lot of home in my Sabres bouncing back tonight at home against the 11-1-2 Bruins. Especially with the B’s coming off a 3-2 overtime loss in Montreal, I expect Boston to win this game and I’ll bet against my boys and take the Bruins for a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Canadiens vs. Flames (7:00)
This matchup sucks. I’d expect this to be a pretty close, competitive game since they do match up well. I’d lean the Habs win at home and the over, but not enough to bet either. I’ll stay off this game entirely.
Capitals vs. Golden Knights (7:00)
The Capitals are playing pretty well lately but I still think this is a pretty big mismatch. I don’t really expect a whole lot out of Ovi and the Caps this year, but Vegas I think goes back to back and lifts the Cup again. The price here is pretty solid and I’ll take the Golden Knights for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Blue Jackets vs. Penguins (7:00)
Huge mismatch here. After their slow start to the season, the Penguins are cruising into tonight’s game on a four game win streak after shutting out the Sabres 4-0 on Saturday. The Blue Jackets, coming off a 4-3 shootout loss on the road to the Rangers on Sunday (my only loss that day since I had the Rags in regulation) are on a five game losing streak with just one win in their last ten games. I think this ends up being an easy win for the Pens. I’ll lay the juice on Pittsburgh for 1.5 units along with half a unit on the puck line. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
Blues vs. Lightning (8:00)
The Blues are far exceeding my expectations lately, and coming off a shocking 8-4 win in Colorado on Saturday, they have four wins in their last five games to improve to 7-5-1 on the season. I’m still not sold on this team though whatsoever. The Lightning are in a bit of a slump right now, but I’d still lean they win on the road here tonight. I don’t like it quite enough to bet on it though. I’d slightly lean the over as well, but not enough to bet that either, so I’ll just stay off this game completely.
Predators vs. Ducks (8:00)
Not a great game here. I know the Preds are at home but I don’t understand how they’re this big of a favorite. The Ducks aren’t world beaters but the books should be giving them a bit more respect. I’ll take Anaheim for half a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.
Stars vs. Coyotes (8:00)
Big mismatch here in my opinion in the Central tonight. I think the Stars are a fantastic team on both ends of the ice. The Coyotes aren’t nearly as bad of a team as they’ve been the last few years, but I don’t see them beating Dallas on the road. I’ll take the Stars in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it. NOTE: I completely forgot to actually place my bet on this game.
Jets vs. Devils (8:00)
This isn’t a great cross-conference game. The Devils are still without their two best forwards in Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier and they’re feeling that, with just one win in their last four games, which came against the Blackhawks. I’d lean the Jets, who are playing decent right now win this game at home tonight, but I don’t think its worth betting. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet that either, so I’ll stay off this game completely.
Sharks vs. Panthers (10:30)
I expect a pretty easy win here for the Panthers. The Sharks are such a horrendous team and this game doesn’t need much analysis. I’ll take Florida in regulation and their team total over 3.5 for 2 units each. I looked at the alternate -2.5 puck line again, but that doesn’t have enough value for me at +150.
