Solid night on Wednesday for me on the NHL, going 5-3 to win 2.12 units. After a nice Thanksgiving Day off, today we have a loaded 15 slate with a bunch of day games. Let’s crush it!
The SJ Sharks are an absolute gift this year. It’s unbelievable how profitable betting against this team is this season.
Bruins vs. Red Wings (1:00)
This should be an interesting matchup in the Atlantic. These teams split their first two games, each winning at home, a 4-1 win for the B’s and a 5-4 win for the Red Wings. I like the Bruins to win this one at home as they’re the better team here, especially defensively. I’ll start the day laying the juice on them for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Flyers vs. Rangers (1:00)
This should be a fun Metro Division game that before the season I never would have expected. I thought the Flyers were going to be horrible but they’ve play really solid hockey on both ends of the ice. The Rangers though have looked phenomenal. I like the Rags to get a win here on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but I’m not touching it at 5.5.
Blackhawks vs. Maple Leafs (2:00)
Big cross conference matchup here. The Blackhawks even with Bedard tearing it up, stink. They’re on a five game losing streak. Meanwhile the Leafs return from Sweden on a four game win streak. The Blackhawks pulled off the 4-1 upset in Toronto early in the season. I like Toronto to answer back with a pretty easy win here on the road in Chicago. I’ll take them in regulation for 1.5 units. I also like the over, which I’ll take (boosted to +105) for half a unit.
Capitals vs. Oilers (3:00)
These two teams have been the biggest shock of the season to me for opposite reasons. The Caps have been on fire and are way better than I expected them to be, coming into today’s game on a five game win streak after a 4-3 win over my Sabres where they never led until the game winner in OT. The Oilers meanwhile are a complete and utter mess. They’re on a three game losing streak and can’t keep the puck out of their own net. We’re getting awesome value on the Caps at home as a dog today and I’ll take them for a unit along with their team total for 1.5 units. I’m also gonna take a half unit shot on the Caps alternate puck line at -1.5. Too much value to pass up there.
Blues vs. Predators (3:00)
This Central Division matchup isn’t great. These are both mid tier teams to me that I think both miss the playoffs. I’d slightly lean the Blues win this one just cause their at home and slightly lean the over, but I’m not betting on either. I’ll skip this game completely.
Devils vs. Blue Jackets (3:00)
The Devils, with Jack Hughes back, disappointed me big time on Wednesday, getting shut out 4-0 in Detroit (double loser for me). This is a good team that has just one win in their last six games. I expect them to bounce back here at home tonight against an awful Blue Jackets team that just got their first win in their last ten games. I’ll take the Devils in regulation for a unit. I like the over too, which I’ll also take for a unit.
Ducks vs. Kings (3:30)
This should be a fun California game between these very close teams. The Ducks are in a bit of a slump right now. They have a ton of good young pieces that are going to make this a very good team in the future, but they’re not quite there yet in competing with really good teams like the Kings. LA’s on a three game win streak and have been fantastic on both ends of the ice this year. I like the Kings to win here on the road and will take them in regulation for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under but not enough to bet it.
Sharks vs. Canadiens (3:30)
The Sharks have been an absolute gift this season with how horrendous they’ve been. There’s no such thing as free money in gambling and no such thing as a lock, but betting against them is about as close as it gets. The Habs are not a good team by any means which makes me think this might be one of the games that San Jose might pull off, so I’ll scale down a bit and take the Montreal moneyline for 1.5 units and the puck line for half a unit. No alt lines or team totals today.
Sabres vs. Penguins (6:00)
My Sabres played a really solid game against the Capitals on Wednesday night, never trailing until they lost in the closing seconds of overtime. Disappointing loss and I’m not sold on my team getting wins against good teams. The Penguins are coming off a 1-0 shutout loss to the Rangers and have just one win in their last four games, but prior to that were on a five game win streak. The first time these teams played this season, we got shut out 4-0 and although I think the Sabres get on the board and keep this one closer, I expect the Pens to get the win on the road tonight in Buffalo. I’ll take them for a unit. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to even consider betting on.
Senators vs. Islanders (7:30)
When I first looked at this game my initial reaction was “who cares?”, but it could actually be an interesting game. The first game between these teams on Long Island was close, with the Isles winning 3-2 at home. I do think the Senators are the better team by a slight margin and would lean they win this one. I’d also slightly lean the over, but I’m not betting on anything in this game. Wouldn’t surprise me if this is a sneaky good game between two mid-tier teams.
Hurricanes vs. Lightning (8:00)
This should be a fun rubber match between these two teams, currently both sitting third in their divisions in the East. For the Bolts they’re supposed to get their Vezina winning goal, Andrei Vasilevskiy back tonight after he was out recovering from surgery to start the season. These teams split their first two games, both shutouts in Tampa with the Lightning winning 3-0 and the Canes answering back with a 4-0 win on the road. I’d lean Carolina and the under in this game, but I’m not betting it, especially with Vasy making his return.
Panthers vs. Jets (8:00)
This might be the best game on today’s slate. Both of these teams are playing really well this year, which has been a little bit surprising to me. The first game between these teams was fun, with the Jets winning 6-4 at home. I think this one’s pretty much a coin flip. If anything I’d lean the over, but I don’t see a strong enough edge to bet it.
Stars vs. Flames (8:30)
The Flames have played better recently and picked up the pace, but this is still a pretty big mismatch to me. The Stars are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Vegas on an insane goal by Jack Eichel, but have a 5-1-1 record in their last seven games and I think this team could contend to win the Cup. In the first game between these teams, Calgary kept it close but the Stars still picked up a 4-3 win on the road. I like them to win again tonight at home. I’ll take Dallas for 2 units.
Wild vs. Avalanche (8:30)
Another big mismatch here in the Central. The Wild have really struggled, coming into tonight on a five game losing streak with just two wins in their last eleven games, which makes sense considering how much dead money they have in the salary cap. The Avs have picked it up after a bit of a slump, with four wins in their last five games. I like Colorado to win here on the road and I’ll take them for 1.5 units at the nice pick’em price along with the puck line for half a unit. I like the over too, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Kraken vs. Canucks (10:00)
Fun game to close out the nice. The Kraken have played well lately, while the Canucks are in a bit of a slump. In the first game between these teams just six days ago, Seattle got a 4-3 win on the road. I like Vancouver to answer back with a win tonight on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. I like the over better though, which I’ll take for a unit.
