NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 12/11/23

Fantastic Sunday of the NHL for me yesterday on the unusually large slate, going 7-2 to win 3.83 units. Tonight we have just a four game slate before another big slate tomorrow. Let’s get after it!

Sabres vs. Coyotes (7:00)

My Sabres have struggled lately. On Saturday night they played pretty solid hockey on both ends of the ice, yet still couldn’t find the back of the net, losing 3-2 in a shootout to the Habs for a very disappointing result. It’s been embarrassing for this team, with just one win in the last six games for Buffalo. The Coyotes have been pretty decent this season and are coming off two losses in a row, losing 5-3 in Boston on Saturday and 4-1 at home against the Flyers on Thursday after they had gone on a five game win streak, beating the last four Cup champions in that span. This team is a pain in the ass to play against. I’d lean the Yotes win here on the road, but I don’t like it enough to bet against my Sabres with the signs of life they showed in their last two games. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.

Islanders vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)

This should actually be a pretty solid game. The Leafs are a solid team this season. Coming off a 4-0 shutout win against the Preds on Saturday they have four wins in their last five games, picking up at least a point in ten of their last eleven games. They have a lot of close games though and have so many games that go to overtime. The Isles I thought were a middling, lousy team but they’ve quietly been on a heater. Coming off their 3-2 come from behind overtime win against the Kings on Saturday, where they erased a 2-0 deficit, the Islanders now have four wins in their last five games and have picked up at least a point in all but one of their last twelve games. I expect this to be a one goal game in either direction. I’d slightly lean the Leafs win but not enough to bet it. I love that the total on this game is only 5.5 and I’ll take the over for a unit.

Stars vs. Red Wings (8:00)

Really fun cross conference matchup here tonight. I think these are both really solid teams but neither have played that great recently. The Red Wings are coming off two losses in a row after a 6-1 run. After blowing a 4-0 lead to lose 6-5 in overtime to the Sharks on Thursday, they were dominated 5-1 against the Sens on Saturday, with Patty Kane scoring his first goal as a Red Wing. The Stars have been fantastic this year, but have just one win in their last four games, coming off a 6-1 blowout loss against the Golden Knights on Saturday. I’d slightly lean Dallas wins at home here tonight, but in no way do I think they’re worth betting on at -200. I’ll stay off the side. I like the over though, and I’ll take the over 6 here for half a unit.

Avalanche vs. Flames (9:30)

This isn’t the best matchup to close out the night. The Avalanche are the far better team in this matchup on both ends of the ice, but coming off a 5-2 loss at home to the Flyers on Saturday, they’re in a pretty big slump right now with just one win (against the Ducks) in their last six games. In that stretch, they’ve struggled big time on both ends of the ice. The Flames just aren’t that great of a team in general, with bad offense and sub-par defense. They’re coming off a 4-2 loss to the Devils and have just one (surprising) win in their last four games. The Avs won the first game between these teams 3-1 at home a few weeks ago and I think they get right with another win at home tonight. I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.
