NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 1/1/25

Happy New Year! Yesterday I went 6-4 but took a slight .54 unit loss. Since the NHL decided to have the Winter Classic on a loaded slate yesterday, tonight we have just one game, Kings vs. Devils. Let’s win!

Kings vs. Devils (6:00)

Pretty solid matchup tonight for the only game of New Year’s Day, despite me still being irritated the NHL didn’t make the Winter Classic the only game today instead. The Kings have played really well this season, in second place in the Pacific Division. They’re coming off a 5-4 win at home against the Flyers in the second half of a back to back on Sunday and have a 10-2-2 record in their last 14 games, playing well on both ends of the ice. The Devils are in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off giving me my biggest loss on yesterday’s slate as they fell 3-2 in Anaheim for their second loss in a row. They have been a fantastic team all season, a point behind the Capitals for first place in the Eastern Conference. Jersey won the first game between these teams 3-1 at home on December 12th, scoring twice in the last 7:02 to win a pretty boring game. I like the Devils to bounce back from yesterday’s loss on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the over at just 5.5, but not enough to bet it.
