Solid night for me to open the NHL season yesterday, going 4-1 to win 0.65 units, with the Oilers ruining the sweep. Let’s win again on tonight’s three games!

Flyers vs. Penguins (7:30)
It’s the Battle of Pennsylvania, one of the best rivalries in the league to start off the season for these two Metro Division teams in a rematch of last year’s first round where the Flyers got off to a surprising 3-0 series lead and knocked off their biggest rivals in six games. This game’s pretty much a toss up to me tonight. I’d slightly lean the better defense for Philly gets them the win at home, and I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet either so I will lay off this game.
Maple Leafs vs. Islanders (7:30)
Not the most exciting Eastern Conference matchup here. The Leafs are in the second half of a back to back tonight to start their season, coming off William Nylander scoring the league’s first goal of the season just 48 seconds into that game, but going on to lose 3-2 at home to the Habs (winner for me). I’m a bit conflicted on this game with the Leafs in the second half of a back to back at home and I think they’re the slightly better team, so I’ll stay off this game completely tonight. The total’s also a complete toss up to me.
Avalanche vs. Kings (10:00)
Not the best Western Conference matchup tonight in a rematch of last year’s first round series where the Avs made quick work of the Kings, sweeping them. The first two games were close, with Colorado winning them both 2-1 before easy wins in Games 3 and 4. Last year the Avalanche were far and away the best team in the NHL, winning the President’s Trophy as the defacto Cup favorite the entire year while LA struggled and were lucky to get into the playoffs. I have similar expectations this season, with the Avs being my pick to win the Western Conference while I think the Kings miss the playoffs. I like Colorado to start their year with a win at home tonight and I’ll take them for 1.5 units. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it in their first game. I also considered point props, but don’t think their prices are worth betting.
