I won a unit on last night’s small NHL slate, going 2-1. Today we have a huge twelve game slate, let’s crush it and have a day!

Flyers vs. Ducks (1:00)
This isn’t a great cross conference game to start off the day. After starting the season with nine straight losses, the Flyers are now on a three game win streak, coming off beating my Sabres 3-1 on the road on Wednesday night. The Ducks on the other hand started the year 4-1 and are now on a five game losing streak. I’d lean Anaheim wins here on the road and I’d lean the under, but I’m not touching this game.
Devils vs. Kings (3:30)
Not a great game here. The Kings blow, but have won their last two games in a row after losing their first six. The Devils are playing quite well and just acquired Connor Hellebuyck, bringing the best goalie in the league home to the US, but likely won’t be starting today. I still like Jersey to win here at home and I’ll take them for half a unit, laying the -192. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Capitals vs. Sabres (7:00)
Pretty lousy game in the East here. My Sabres haven’t been great, while the Capitals are a really solid team this year. I’ll bet against my boys and take the Caps for a unit. I like the over as well, which I’ll also take for a unit. Additionally, I’ll take the former Sabre Alex Tuch to get a point in his first game against Buffalo this year for half a unit.
Bruins vs. Sharks (7:00)
Kind of an interesting game here, and I’d expect it to be better than the 6-3 win for Boston in San Jose a couple weeks ago. Boston’s playing fantastic and the Sharks have played better lately than they did starting the season. I still think the Bruins win this one again at home and I’ll take them for a unit, even at that high price. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
Senators vs. Rangers (7:00)
This should be a pretty fun game in the East with both of these teams exceeding my expectations to start the year. I’d lean the Sens win at home, but not enough to bet the side in pretty much a toss up to me. I’d lean the over, but not enough to take it at 6.5, so I’ll lay off this game.
Penguins vs. Predators (7:00)
I wouldn’t say this is a great cross conference matchup by any means, with both teams struggling. I’d lean the Pens win at home, but didn’t really consider betting the side here. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Blue Jackets vs. Golden Knights (7:00)
Big mismatch for this cross conference game. The Blue Jackets are in disarray, while the Golden Knights have been very good. I like Vegas to bounce back from their two 6-2 losses in a row. The price is cheaper than I expected and I’ll take the Knights for 1.5 units. I like the over as well, which I’ll take for a unit at + money.
Blues vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
Not a great cross conference matchup here. The Blues are a completely average team. The Hurricanes have looked spectacular defending their Cup win. I like the Canes to bounce back tonight on the road from their 6-5 shootout loss in Edmonton on Thursday in what was easily the best game of the year so far and so fun to watch. I’ll take Carolina for a unit. The total is a complete toss up to me.
Oilers vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
This should be a really fun cross conference game. The Oilers have looked like the best team in the NHL under Mike Babcock in their 8-1-1 start to the season. They’re playing at a different level this year. The Leafs have been inconsistent but are on a three game win streak right now. I like the Oilers to win here and I’ll take them for half a unit. I love the over though, which I’ll lay the -148 on for a unit.
Mammoth vs. Lightning (9:00)
Fantastic cross conference matchup to get into the later games. Both of these teams have been electric. The side is totally a toss up to me, with both of these teams coming off losses. I do think the Lightning are the slightly better team, but with them in the second half of a back to back on the road after losing 6-3 in Colorado last night, this game’s a coin flip. I do like the over a lot though, and I’ll take it for 1.5 units.
Flames vs. Red Wings (10:00)
Snoozefest of a garbage cross conference game here between two shitty teams. I’d lean the Red Wings win here on the road but I’m not touching them. I didn’t think the total in this one would be just 5.5 though, and I like the over which I’ll take for half a unit.
Kraken vs. Wild (10:00)
Interesting game to end the night, which wasn’t what I would’ve expected going into the year. Seattle’s playing way better than I thought they would offensively. The Wild are the better team here though and I’d lean they win on the road, but not quite enough to bet them. I like the over though, which I’ll take for half a unit.
