Losing night for me yesterday with the Oilers losing in the shootout, as I went 2-2 on the NHL to lose 1.88 units. Let’s bounce back on tonight’s later, big eleven game slate.

Flyers vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)
This is such a lousy matchup with the two worst teams in the Metro to start the year, and it isn’t looking great for either of them. I’d slightly lean the Flyers at home and the under, but I’m not touching this game. I’ll start my night a bit later than usual.
Blackhawks vs. Kings (8:00)
Another awful game, this one in the West. Both these teams suck too. I’d lean the Kings win on the road here, but not enough to consider betting a side. I’d slightly lean the over with two horrible defenses, but I’ll lay off this game completely.
Hurricanes vs. Bruins (8:00)
GREAT game in the East here with the two division leaders, both playing great to start the season. I think the Canes are the better team here but Boston’s playing better hockey lately so this is a complete coin flip to me, but at +160 I think that’s worth a half unit shot on the B’s. I like the over as well, but digging into it more statistically, I’ll tone it back a bit and just take it for half a unit.
Blues vs. Canadiens (8:00)
Wouldn’t say this is the best matchup, but it is a pretty fun cross conference game. I think the Habs are the slightly better team here and I’ll take them on the road for half a unit. I also like the over, which I’ll take for half a unit as well.
Jets vs. Panthers (8:00)
Kind of a boring cross conference game here. The Panthers are playing pretty solid hockey besides that emotional ordeal for Brady Tkachuk in Ottawa and getting shut out by the Pens on the road the next night. The Jets have started spinning down. I like Florida to win here on the road and I’ll take them for a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Predators vs. Islanders (8:00)
Boring cross conference game between these two middle of the road teams. The side on this game is a complete coin flip to me. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it at 5.5.
Stars vs. Devils (8:00)
This should be a great game to watch. Dallas is rolling after their early season issues, while the Devils have gotten in a nice groove here of playing decent hockey. The bigger news of this game though is who’s better the pipes for Jersey as Connor Hellebuyck makes his Devils debut on the road. The Stars are still the better team here, and I’d lean they win at home, and the -118 is a great price. Hellebuyck’s the best goalie in the world, but who knows what his first game back after that rollercoaster for him was like stomping his way out of Winnipeg after winning gold for Team USA. I’ll take a shot on him needing a game to get his legs under him for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it. This might be a stupid play, but I’ll try to hit both sides of this and take a Connor Hellebuyck over 24.5 saves for half a unit, which I actually really like with the Devils already giving up the fewest expected goals in the league and Dallas only averaging 27 shots per game.
Mammoth vs. Wild (9:00)
Awesome game in the Central with both of these teams playing really good hockey and absolutely playoff teams in the West. I’d lean the Wild win this one with the way better defense, but not enough to it in a pretty close matchup up on the road. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for half a unit, expecting both teams to score.
Ducks vs. Canucks (10:00)
Terrible matchup out West. The Canucks are far and away the worst team in the league. The Ducks finally ended a four game losing streak with a 5-4 win in Philly on Monday night and I like them to win here coming back home. Vancouver’s pretty much an auto-bet against every night. I’ll take Anaheim in regulation for a unit. I’ll also take the over with two struggling defenses for half a unit.
Golden Knights vs. Senators (10:00)
Really fun cross conference game here. Both of these teams have been very good this season. Vegas is on a three game losing streak though, and I like them to break it at home tonight. I’ll take the Golden Knights for a unit. I love the over even more though, which I’ll take for 1.5 units in a game that should see a ton of goals.
Sharks vs. Sabres (10:30)
Kind of a lousy late night cross conference game here that I know I’m going to be pissed I stayed up to watch. The Sharks have been underperforming my expectations for the start of the year, while my Sabres are pretty much right on target for them…we’re bad. San Jose should win here at home and I’ll bet against my boys for half a unit, especially with the Sharks as a +124 home dog. I like the over better though, so I’ll take that for a unit.
