Game 7. Holy Shit.

We couldn’t have asked for a more incredible Game 7 tonight at the Shark Tank between the San Jose Sharks and the Vegas Golden Knights to close out the best series of the first round of an amazing NHL Playoffs so far.

San Jose came out buzzing tonight and were getting a ton of chances early in this game but just couldn’t solve Marc-Andre Fluery all game. A few mistakes cost the Sharks and the got themselves into a 3-0 hole that lasted till halfway through the 3rd period. Everyone’s pretty much thinking game over here.

The game changing moment came with 10:47 left, a strange collision leads to Sharks captain Joe Pavelski leaving the ice with injury and a penalty that changed the game. What was probably a bad call of a 5 minute major for cross checking and a misconduct on Cody Eakin. A terrible injury that no one wants to see

Rallying around their veteran captain who had to be helped off the ice, it only took 7 seconds for Logan Couture to make it 3-1. We got a game here. 49 second later on the same power play Tomas Hertl makes it 3-2. A couple minutes later with 7:07 left in the game Couture makes it a tie game. AND the Sharks are still on the same power play. 28 seconds later, on a goal from Kevin Labanc, San Jose gets their first lead of the game. 4 goals in less than 4 minutes. Incredible comeback from the Sharks.

3:30 left in the game, Vegas gets a power play on a hooking call on Kevin Labanc, Sharks work hard and kill off the penalty. Huge kill. With Fleury on the bench and six skaters on the ice, the Knights tie up the game with 47 to go on a goal from last year’s star forward Jonathan Marchessault. With a couple chances to end the period, we get overtime in Game 7. Next goal wins and the intensity couldn’t get higher.

Every play and every rush could end the game and in this case, the season for one of these two great teams. Somehow these guys raise themselves to an even higher level that they played all game. The adrenaline running through them is fueling them to go as hard as possible and as fatigue sets in which results in a ton of scoring chances on both ends of the ice. Both Marc-Andre Fleury and Martin Jones made some sensational saves in overtime.

With 1:41 remaining in the first overtime period, Barclay Goodrow finds a way to get the puck around Fleury and the Sharks come ALL THE WAY back from a 3-1 series deficit after losing 3 games in a row to beat the Vegas Golden Knights. What an incredible game. What an incredible series.
