NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 2/1/21

Lousy day yesterday going 0-2 on the Sunday slate, but still up on the week! Also sort of sucks that I laid off the Blues both ways yesterday with Villi Russo in net instead of Jordan Binnington and they won both ways (ML and PL). The Oilers also has a very high scoring night with their backup in net, but oh well, can’t lose what you don’t bet and betting on unknown backup goalies usually doesn’t pay off. Let’s bounce back tonight on a short five game slate of hockey games on a Monday night!

Rangers vs. Penguins (7:00)

The Rangers and Penguins have met three times so far this season, with Pittsburgh winning all three matchups by a goal (two of which needed over 60 minutes to determine a winner). I think Pittsburgh is the better team here and the Rangers are underachieving on the year, but NY has kept it close in all three matchups so I’m laying off the ML here but I think the Pens win again. Pittsburgh’s gone over in 6 of their 9 games this season and NY has gone over in only three of theirs. I’d lean the over here tonight but its tough for me to trust the Rangers to get enough on the board.

Capitals vs. Bruins (7:00)

On Saturday, the Caps and Bruins kept it close on the scorecard in the Caps 4-3 overtime win. The Bruins outshot the Caps by almost double 43-23 but couldn’t get the puck past Vanecek. I think the Bruins bounce back here tonight and I’m laying half a unit on the Bruins ML.

Lightning vs. Predators (7:00)

On Saturday, Tampa bounced back from two straight losses with a win against Nashville. They got out to a 4-1 lead on a four goal 2nd period before they took their foot off the gas and let the Preds back into the game to only win 4-3. I’m going back to the Tampa ML here for a unit as long as Vasilevskiy is confirmed in net (currently projected).

Canadiens vs. Canucks (7:00)

In three games between these two teams this year, Montreal has won two of those matchups 7-3 and 5-2. Vancouver won the first game 6-5 in a shootout. I think Montreal’s the better team here and with Carey Price already confirmed in goal, I’m going to take Montreal ML for half a unit. I’d also lean the over here but not enough to bet it.

Jets vs. Flames (8:00)

These two teams have only met once so far this season with Winnipeg winning in overtime 4-3. This game’s pretty much a toss up to me that could go either way, so I’m not touching it.

1u Tampa ML (-165)

.5u Bruins ML (-145)

.5u Montreal ML (-170)

Record: 41-38 (-7.94 units)
