Started off hot going 3-0 on the early game and ended up breaking even on the day going 3-3 losing a stupid parlay (that came pretty close to hitting at +563, but this isn’t horseshoes) and the Penguins disappointing in a 2-0 loss to the Islanders. Tonight we have a pretty packed late slate of games.
Panthers vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
These two good teams kept the game close between them and a five goal third period (which just goes to show, an over in hockey is never dead until the clock hits 00:00:00) lead to a 4-3 shootout win for Carolina. I think Carolina’s the better team here but wouldn’t bet this game with these two teams matching up so well on Saturday night.
Senators vs. Flames (8:00)
After a shocking four game win streak, the Senators went back to being as bad as expected as Calgary answered back to beat them 6-3 after losing 6-1 in the previous game. I’m going back to Calgary here and taking the moneyline for a half unit each.
Jets vs. Canucks (8:00)
Games between these two franchises have significantly trended under. After a 4-3 shootout win in the last game between them, the Jets are 2-1 against the Canucks and the under is 2-1 this season. The under is now 13-3-1 between these teams in their last 17 games going back to the 2015 season. Especially with the OU at 6.5, I’m on the under for half a unit tonight. I’d also lean Winnipeg, Vancouver’s been bad this season.
Oilers vs. Maple Leafs (10:00)
I expected a fantastic tilt between these two Canadian teams on Saturday night and instead we got a dud as Toronto went on to win 4-0 giving Jack Campbell his third career shutout on 30 shots. I don’t expect the Oilers to not be able to score again so tonight should be a better game. I’m not betting it but I’d slightly lean Toronto again but in a much closer game. I’d also lean the over in this one.
Golden Knights vs. Wild (10:00)
Minnesota’s currently on a very impressive six game win streak and have far exceeded my expectations for them this season. That being said (besides a 6-2 win against Colorado on February 24th), that win streak’s against the Kings, Ducks and Sharks. So they’re beating up teams that aren’t very good. Vegas is still the best team in hockey in my eyes though and I’d expect them to ruin the Wild’s win streak tonight. I’m on Vegas ML for half a unit.
Ducks vs. Blues (10:00)
Even though they’re still in second place in the West (mainly because they have way more games played than other teams), the Blues haven’t been very good lately. After Jordan Binnington got pulled in their last game after allowing four goals on 19 shots from the Sharks and proceeded to go punch some guys on SJ on his way off the ice like an angry child, Ville Husso got 19 saves on 21 shots as the Blues went on to win 7-6. Husso’s back in goal tonight. The Blues should win this game against a strugglingly Ducks team coming in with six straight losses (although they kept it very close with Vegas and Arizona in their last three), but I’m not interested in betting this one whatsoever.
Sharks vs. Avalanche (10:30)
Colorado’s a way better team than SJ. In two games between the Avs and Sharks this year, Colorado’s won both pretty easily with 3-0 and 7-3 wins. I think Colorado keeps the wins coming tonight and takes this one. But with an expensive price of -220 on the ML, I’m taking Colorado to win in regulation at the cheaper -145 for half a unit.
Picks
.5u Calgary ML (-150)
.5u Jets/Canucks under 6.5 (-115)
.5u Vegas ML (-140)
.5u Colorado in regulation (-145)
.5u Parlay: Calgary -1.5/Jets ML/Colorado -1.5 (+862)
Record: 92-91 (-27.6 units)
