The winning streak came to an end for me last night, but huge slate of NHL games today to get right back on track, starting early in the afternoon.
Update: Awesome 4-0 start for 3 units to start the day! Let’s keep it going on the late slate!
Islanders vs. Sabres (1:00)
The Isles continue to dominate the Sabres and after their last 5-2 win are now 4-0 this season against them and 11-2 since December 2016. I’m hammering Isles again today with a unit each on the moneyline and regulation line (just to save a little juice).
Devils vs. Rangers (1:00)
Including their 6-1 loss to the Rangers on Thursday night, despite outshooting them 36-19, the Devils are now on a four game losing streak. This season, NJ is 2-1 against the Rangers and all three games went over. I’m leaning the over here but not betting it.
Penguins vs. Flyers (1:00)
These Pennsylvania rivals have faced off four times this year in all very entertaining games. I think this game’s a toss up on who wins, but I like the overs trend here with all four games going over this season and I expect both teams to be able to score. Going with the over for half a unit.
Predators vs. Panthers (2:00)
Florida is quietly having a very good season so far, Nashville hasn’t. After Florida got out to a 5-2 lead on Thursday night, they let the Preds back into the game where it was a sweat to hold the win after Nashville scored two goals in the 3rd to make it a closer 5-4 final. I’m back on Florida here since they’re just the better overall team for half a unit.
Canadiens vs. Jets (7:00)
In a great game on Thursday night, the Jets beat the Habs 4-3 in overtime for the third win of the season against Montreal. I think theres some good value in the Jets as an underdog tonight in this game, but not enough to bet the game.
Canucks vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
Toronto gave me a disappointing loss on Thursday night in Vancouver as Thatcher Demko made 31 saves in a 3-1 win for the first Canucks win of the season against the Leafs. The Leafs are the much better team here and I think they bounce back here tonight. Taking the Leafs ML for half a unit.
Coyotes vs. Wild (7:00)
In the first game between them this season last night, the Wild got a 3-0 lead in the first period and rode that to a 5-1 win over the Yotes. I think tonight’s game stays closer but I’m not betting it. I’d lean the over as well.
Stars vs. Blue Jackets (8:00)
Both these teams haven’t been good this year and matched up pretty well. A trend I hadn’t know about until after the last game though, Stars first period unders are 16-2 on the season so I’m jumping on this trend. In those 18 games, there have only been 15 first period goals and there hasn’t been more than two first period goals in any Dallas game this year (including their 7-3 loss to Detroit). In the three games against Columbus there’s been one first period goal in each of those games. I’m taking the first period option for half a unit.
Avalanche vs. Ducks (8:00)
Last night the Avs had to come back to win 3-2 in overtime against the Ducks, which ruined my Avs in regulation bet. Colorado’s the better team here so I’m going back to them in regulation again for half a unit.
Kings vs. Blues (9:00)
Last night with a clutch goal by David Perron with less than a minute left in the third period, the Blues forced overtime where they went on to beat the Kings 3-2 on a goal from Mike Hoffman. With Binnington confirmed in goal tonight, I think the Blues should win this one but I’m not betting the game.
Oilers vs. Flames (10:00)
The Battle of Alberta. Anything can happen. I’d lean the Oilers to bounce back tonight after getting crushed three games in a row against the Leafs. Calgary also just fired Geoff Ward and brought back Darryl Sutter behind the bench, although he has not yet joined the team. I’d also lean the over here but I’m not betting the game.
Sharks vs. Golden Knights (10:30)
Vegas to me is still the best team in hockey this season. Last night they got out to a 3-0 lead against the Sharks before they blew that lead and it took until overtime for the Knights to win 5-4. Devan Dubnyk is confirmed in goal for the Sharks tonight and he’s been terrible this season, with a 1-4-2 record, a 3.42 GAA and 89% save percentage. I’m back on Vegas tonight with a unit on the ML and half a unit on the puck line.
