NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/23/21

I had an incredible night yesterday crushing the board to go 8-0 and winning 6 units to bounce back from my losing night Sunday. Tonight there’s only five NHL games to build on the winning night.

Flyers vs. Devils (7:00)

Neither of these teams have been fantastic this season but the Flyers have more talent on both sides of the ice than the Devils. In the two games between these teams this season, the Flyers won both of them 5-3 and 3-1. It’s been tough to gauge the Flyers this year but I think they should win tonight. I’ll take Philly for half a unit.

Blackhawks vs. Panthers (8:00)

Both of these teams have been big overachievers this season. Florida hasn’t had any problems with Chicago this year and are 4-0 against the Blackhawks this season. Florida averages 3.35 goals per game (vs. Chicago’s 2.91) and allows 2.77 (vs. Chicago’s 3.25). I like Florida here but Chicago’s a pesky team so I’m going a little lighter but still taking the Panthers for half a unit. I’m also going to go with the over here for half a unit as over 6 is 3-0-1 this season between these teams.

Predators vs. Red Wings (8:00)

These teams both have been sitting towards the bottom of the league standings. They match up well and are 2-2 amongst each other this year. They also match up pretty similarly statistically across each facet of the game. Nashville averages 2.24 goals per game, Detroit averages 2.22. Nashville allows 3.12 per game, Detroit allows 3.25. This game’s a coin flip to me so I’m completely skipping it.

Stars vs. Lightning (8:30)

Another rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Final. These two teams are very different from the teams they were last year. Tampa’s still a wagon but Dallas on the other hand is having a bad year. In the three games amongst them this season, Tampa won all three. The first two in 5-0 and 2-0 shutouts and the most recent in a 4-3 shutout. I’d expect the Bolts to keep rolling on this and I’m going with a unit on Tampa ML. I don’t mind the puck line either but I’d rather just go with the moneyline.

Coyotes vs. Avalanche (10:00)

Last night the Avs showed again that when they are healthy, they’re a force to be reckoned with in the West as they easily cruised to a 5-1 win over the Yotes. Tonight Jonas Johansson should be in goal for the Yotes in his first start for Colorado after being traded there from Buffalo. He was fucking awful on the Sabres with a 0-5-1 record, 3.79 GAA and .884 save percentage. I don’t expect much better from him here. Adin Hill’s likely starting for the Yotes who sucks too. With both those goalies starting I’ll take the over tonight for a unit. I’m laying off Colorado this game but if for some reason Grubauer starts, I’ll jump in on Colorado late to go 4-1 on the season against Arizona.

Picks

.5u Flyers ML (-160)

.5u Florida ML (-150)

.5u Florida/Chicago over 6 (-120)

1u Tampa ML (-160)

1u Colorado/Arizona over 5.5 (+110)

Record: 157-130 (-16.86 units)
