NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 4/1/21

Dug myself a big hole yesterday going 1-3 as both the Flyers and Golden Knights lost as over -200 favorites. But hey, I’ve been at this point before this year and grinded out of it. Back to the grind tonight on this nine game NHL slate to go with opening day of baseball.

I added a 2 unit future on the Colorado Avalanche to win the Cup this morning at +650. When they are completely healthy this team looks unstoppable. I think whoever wins the West Division out of Vegas or Colorado goes on to win the Stanley Cup so why not have futures on both of these teams that I could ride hopefully up to the Finals.

Sabres vs. Rangers (7:00)

Last night the Sabres FINALLY ended their 18 game losing streak with a 6-1 win over the broken Flyers. I don’t see Buffalo winning two in a row now and especially with Tokarski starting for the Sabres, I’m on the Rangers in regulation for 2 units tonight (the moneyline’s way too expensive). I’d also lean the over here.

Bruins vs. Penguins (7:00)

This season in four games between these teams, all four games have been low scoring and hit the under while the Bruins won 3 of those games. I’ll take the under here for half a unit.

Islanders vs. Capitals (7:00)

These two teams, along with the Penguins are battling it out for first place in the East this season. In three games played between the Caps and Isles this season, the Capitals are 3-0. In their last six games against the Isles, the Caps have scored at least 3 goals (4-2 in that span). Varlomov hasn’t been spectacular lately and has allowed 3+ goals in three of his last 4 starts. and has a .887 save percentage in those games. I’ll take the Caps team total over 2.5 tonight. I like the Capitals to win too but I’d rather take the TT.

Lightning vs. Blue Jackets (7:00)

Tampa’s on a three game losing streak including a 3-1 loss to Columbus in their last game. Columbus is actually 2-1 this season against the Bolts despite Tampa being the much better team this year and in the one Tampa win, it took overtime to get there. I’d lean that the puck goes the way it should tonight and Tampa wins this one, but at -280, there’s zero chance I’m betting this one. I don’t hate Columbus +1.5 at -110 but I’m not betting it after my bad losing streak the last two days after being on fire for the last month.

Panthers vs. Red Wings (7:00)

Florida’s the way better team here. In seven games between them this year, the Panthers are 5-2 and shouldn’t have a problem making that 6-2 tonight. Only one of their games against Detroit this year went to overtime (the first one of the season where Florida won 3-2), so I’ll cut out some juice here and take Florida in regulation for a unit.

Senators vs. Canadiens (7:00)

Despite Montreal being the better team, they’ve been inconsistent this year and Ottawa is 3-2 against the Habs. Games between these teams have gone under in 8 of the last 9 games they’ve played, but both teams can give up a good amount of goals so I’m just skipping this one. Especially with Jake Allen in goal, Montreal should win this game but I don’t trust them enough to lay -190 on them and Ottawa’s been pesky this season especially when they get out to a lead.

Blackhawks vs. Hurricanes (8:00)

These teams have played close this year and are 2-2 this year against each other, while one of those games ended in overtime. I think Carolina’s the way better team here but I’m not betting it with how these teams have matched up this season.

Predators vs. Stars (8:00)

Nashville’s now on a six game winning streak and have won eight of their last nine games to put themselves back into the playoff race in the Central. Nashville’s won their last three games against a shitty Dallas team, but the Stars won the first two games they played this season. I’d lean the Preds to keep the winning streak going here but I don’t trust them enough to bet on it.

Golden Knights vs. Wild (10:30)

Vegas had a disappointing 4-2 loss last night at the hands of the LA Kings. The Wild are also coming into this game off back to back losses to the Sharks. And I lost on all three of those games. This season, these teams are 2-2 against each other with Vegas winning the first two games and Minnesota winning the last two. I think Vegas wins tonight but I’ll skip this game tonight.
