Another winning day last night, going 4-1 as the Bruins losing in overtime kept me from a perfect night. Big NHL slate tonight to keep the winning grind going, on a 7-1 run in the last 2 days.
Devils vs. Sabres (7:00)
The Sabres have 5 points of a possible 6 in their last three games after going on 18 game losing streak. The Devils aren’t a great team either and these teams are 3-3 against each other this year with four of those games decided by a goal. I’ll skip this game instead of betting against the Sabres as I have been all year.
Islanders vs. Capitals (7:00)
This game’s a preview of what I expect to be the East Division finals. Both of these teams are on fire, especially the Caps who are coming into this game going 12-3 in their last 15 games. In the four games they’ve played this season, the Caps are 3-1 against the Isles and in their last game the Isles got the win in a dominant 8-4 victory. I’ll skip betting a side on this game but it should be the best one on the slate to bet on. I will take the Capitals team total over 2.5 for half a unit though, as the Caps have scored at least three goals in all four games against the Isles this season.
Rangers vs. Penguins (7:00)
Statistically these teams are actually very close in goals for and goals against per game, but the Penguins are the better team here. The Pens are 5-1 against the Rangers this season and I think that continues tonight. I’ll take the Penguins ML for a unit for even money, since its so cheap. I expected the Pens to be around a -150 favorite on the road here so give me that action as a dog where I don’t have to pay juice if they lose.
Flyers vs. Bruins (7:00)
Last night the Bruins lost to the Flyers in overtime to give Philly their first win of the season against the B’s in six games and prevent me from having an undefeated night. I’d lean the Bruins to bounce back here but they have another rookie goalie, Jeremy Swayman (what a sick last name that is) making his first start of the season. With that uncertainty in goal, I’ll skip this one.
Hurricanes vs. Panthers (7:00)
Both of these teams are having good seasons and are pretty much locked in to playoff spots. In four games between them this season, Carolina’s 3-1 against Florida and over 6 is 2-1-1. I think it goes over but not enough to want to bet on this game.
Blue Jackets vs. Lightning (7:00)
On Easter Sunday, the Bolts lost as a -380 favorite against the much worse Detroit Red Wings as they got crushed 5-1. Tampa should bounce back against Columbus tonight, who are coming into this game with seven losses in their last eight games. This year Tampa’s struggled a bit against the Jackets and they’re 2-2 against each other despite how much more talented the Lightning are and both Tampa wins were only decided by a goal (one of those in overtime). I think the Bolts bounce back with a win tonight, but not enough to lay -220 on them here.
Red Wings vs. Predators (7:30)
The Predators seem to have figured out whatever problems they were having as they sucked to start the first two months of the season. They now find themselves in a playoff spot with 11 wins in their last 13 games. Detroit sucks. I’ll take the Preds for a unit, I think for the first time this season.
Blackhawks vs. Stars (8:00)
Neither of these teams are good. Chicago’s 3-1 this season against Dallas and I think they have the slight edge here tonight, but I’m not going to bet on it.
Sharks vs. Ducks (10:30)
Even though both of these teams blow, the Sharks are 4-1 against the Ducks. I think the Sharks win this one, but I don’t want to lay the -180 on this shitty of a team, so instead I’ll stray away from my usual strategy a bit on this one and take SJ in regulation for half a unit with the lower -120 price.
.5u Capitals TT over 2.5 (-120)
1u Penguins ML (+100)
1u Predators ML (-160)
.5u Sharks in regulation (-120)
2u Stanley Cup Champions: Vegas Golden Knights (+700)
2u Stanley Cup Champions: Colorado Avalanche (+650)
Record: 192-147-1 (-22.86 units)
