Yesterday was a quiet day with just one game that I got a half unit win on. The NHL blows at scheduling and there’s a huge 14 game slate to stack winners on!
Sabres vs. Islanders (7:00)
The Islanders have crushed the Sabres this season and they’re 6-0 against Buffalo this season and they’re 5-1 covering the puck line. Michael Houser is getting his first NHL start and I don’t expect much from him. I love the Islanders in this game. I’m crushing this game with 4 units on the Isles in regulation.
Devils vs. Bruins (7:00)
With Rangers loss on Saturday, the Bruins are in the playoffs. Obviously the B’s are the way better team in this matchup, but the Devils have been able to shockingly have Boston’s number this season. The Devils are 4-2 outright against the B’s this year and covered the puck line in all six games they’ve played this season. It doesn’t make sense but the Devils have the B’s figured out. I think it is important to note that both games agains the Devils that the Bruins won, Tuukka Rask was in goal for. Rask is starting tonight and the Devils are coming into this game with three straight wins against the broken Flyers. I’ll take a half unit each on the Devils +1.5 and the Devils in regulation (for the price).
Rangers vs. Capitals (7:00)
The Rangers were eliminated from the playoff contention after their 3-0 loss to the Isles on Saturday and are sitting a bunch of guys tonight including Panarin. The Caps are playing for seeding in the East and are only two points back from Pittsburgh for first place. The Rangers are 4-2 against the Capitals this season, but I think the Caps win tonight with something to actually play for. I’ll take the Caps ML for a unit. The puck line isn’t a bad bet either with a lot of value to it but they haven’t won by more than a goal in either win against the Rangers this year so I’ll skip it.
Flyers vs. Penguins (7:00)
The Penguins are the best team in the East and the Flyers suck this year. The Flyers are coming off three games in a row that they lost to the Devils, one of the worst teams in hockey. The Pens on the other hand have won six of their last seven games. The interesting thing though is that in this in state rivalry, the Flyers are 4-2 this season. I’d lean the Penguins win this one but I like the over better which is 5-1 this season in the state of Pennsylvania. I’ll take the over for a unit.
Hurricanes vs. Blackhawks (7:00)
Carolina’s the much better team here and they’re playing for seeding in the Central Division, only up two points for first place over Tampa and Florida. These teams have played close in every game this season and Carolina’s 3-2 against Chicago on the season. I’d lean Carolina and the over (which is 4-1 in those matchups this season) but I’m not betting on this game. I don’t think there’s any value to the price on the Canes and I could see this one bucking the over trend or ending right around six goals.
Blue Jackets vs. Predators (7:00)
The Preds have only a three point lead over Dallas for the final playoff spot remaining in the Central Division, so every game matters. Columbus sucks with only three wins in their last 20 games and Nashville’s 5-1 against them this season. I’ll take the Predators ML for 1.5 units and the puck line for half a unit (4-2 this season).
Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)
This game is probably a preview of the first round 1/4 playoff matchup in the shitty North Division. The Leafs are 5-2 against Montreal this season and they’re coming off of five big wins in a row. I’d lean Toronto here but I don’t like betting on them so I’ll skip this game.
Senators vs. Jets (7:00)
The Jets are playing a bad stretch of hockey lately coming into tonight’s game on a six game losing streak. Despite being eliminated from the playoffs already, the Senators have played pretty well lately with six games in their last nine games. The Jets are 6-2 against Ottawa this season but with Broissoit in goal for Winnipeg and the quality of hockey they’ve played lately, I’d lean the Sens here as well as the over. Not betting either though.
Panthers vs. Stars (7:00)
Florida’s been a fantastic team this year and have already earned their spot in the playoffs. Tied with Tampa for the second seed and only two points back from Carolina for first, they’re playing for seeding. Rookie phenom Spencer Knight is 3-0 with a 1.67 GAA and .943 SV % for Florida so far in his young career and is in goal tonight against a Dallas Stars team that’s fighting for the final seed in the Central three points back from Nashville for that last place in the playoffs. Florida is 5-2 this season against Dallas this year but with a lot on the line for both these teams tonight, I’m skipping this game. I’d lean Florida.
Blues vs. Ducks (8:00)
St. Louis has been playing really solid hockey lately and have gotten themselves back into the final remaining playoff seed in the West with a three point lead over the Arizona Coyotes. The Blues have four wins in their last five games and they’re 4-2 against the Ducks on the season, dropping their last two games against them. The Ducks are one of the worst teams in hockey so the Blues should beat them at home here. I’ll take the Blues in regulation for 1.5 units
Wild vs. Golden Knights (8:00)
Vegas is the hottest team in hockey with eleven wins in their last twelve games and they currently hold the first place seed in the West. Minnesota’s locked into the playoffs too and have been hot too with eight wins in their last ten games. The Wild are 4-2 this season against Vegas, winning the last four games against the Knights. I’d lean my boys in Vegas win this game but I’m not betting on it.
Coyotes vs. Kings (10:00)
The Coyotes kind of suck but they’re only three points back from St. Louis so they have an outside shot to make the playoffs. The Kings suck too. I’d lean that Arizona wins this game at home since they need any points they could get but the season series between these teams is tied at three wins each. I’ll skip this game. Let’s be real, the Blues are gonna make the playoffs, not the Yotes.
Canucks vs. Oilers (10:00)
The Canucks are coming into this game with four straight losses and the Oilers being lead by Connor McDavid are coming into this game with five wins in their last seven games. Edmonton’s 3-2 against Vancouver this season and I’d think they make that 4-2 tonight but I’m not betting this game.
Sharks vs. Avalanche (10:30)
Colorado has one of the best teams in hockey. The Sharks suck. The Avs are 5-1 against the Sharks this season including their last two games played on Friday and Saturday. With Grubauer likely back in net, the Avs should win this one again. I’ll go with Colorado in regulation for 1.5 units.
