Last night sucked again as not much went right and the officials stole away the Vegas game (I’ll get into that more tomorrow as I break down Game 7). Tonight there’s only two games with Toronto and Carolina having the chance to close out their series.
Game 5: Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens (7:00)
After losing 2-1 in Game 1 at home, the Leafs took control of the series and now in Game 5 have the chance to close out the series. I think Toronto ends it tonight after their big 4-0 win in Montreal on Tuesday. I was going to bet the Leafs here but I don’t think its worth it at the -250 price. I’d lean the under as well since Montreal’s only scored four total goals this whole series but in an elimination game, there could be a lot of time with an empty net so I’ll stay off of it.
Game 6: Predators vs. Hurricanes (9:30)
This series has come much closer than I expected where Juuse Saros has been the key player for Nashville this series and stole wins in Games 3 and 4 in double overtime to turn this thing into a fun series (and lose me money in each of those games). In Game 5 in Carolina, we got another overtime thriller as the captain Jordan Staal was able to figure out Saros to get the win with a chance to close out the series tonight on the road in Smashville, while the Predators try to stave off elimination. I have a three unit bet on the Canes to win this series in six games or less and thanks to those two double overtime losers in Nashville, thats essentially now just a 3 unit bet on the moneyline for Carolina tonight and it’s right around the same price as -150. I considered betting a bit on Nashville +1.5 to try to middle it as a sort of hedge but I feel like that’s not worth the risk at -220, since if Carolina’s up in the third period we have a good chance at empty netters in an elimination game. I’ll lay off any new bets on either side of this game tonight and just ride my series bet on Carolina, who I think closes it out tonight. They’ve dominated all five games in this series and this series looks closer than it should be. Even with the stellar goaltending, this series has trended over, with Carolina scoring at least 3 goals every game and Nashville contributing scoring as well. I’ll take the alternate over 5 for a unit here for a unit since I think even if this game goes to overtime again, it’ll be a 2-2 game that would push that over. I do think that Carolina wins by a few goals though and this thing hits the regular over 5.5 anyway.
