Had a winning NHL night yesterday crushing the big games and going 3-2 for a 1.12 unit profit. Tonight we just have a three game slate before tomorrow’s huge one.
Lightning vs. Flyers (7:00)
These two teams just played last Thursday in a great game where Tampa won 4-3 in a shootout after the Flyers tied the game up with just nine seconds remaining to force overtime. The Lightning are 10-4-3 and have won four of their last five. The Flyers are 8-5-3 with three losses in their last four games. The Tampa offense has picked up the scoring and they’re eleventh in the NHL with an average of 3.12 goals per game and they’re allowing 3 goals per game. Philly is averaging just 2.69 goals per game but with Carter Hart’s great goaltending, they have allowed an eighth fewest 2.63 goals per game. I’d lean Tampa but the price on them at -180 isn’t worth it to me. I like the under here with Vasilevskiy battling Hart, just as I did the first time these teams played and was less than 10 seconds away from cashing in on and I’ll take it for half a unit.
Stars vs. Oilers (8:30)
Both of these teams come into this game with three wins in their last four games. Edmonton’s significantly a better team though at 13-4. Lead by league leading Leon Draisaitl (35 points, 18 goals) and Connor McDavid (32 points, 20 assists), their offense is scoring the third most goals in hockey, averaging 3.88 goals per game with by far the best power play in the league, scoring on 39.6% of their man up opportunities. They’re allowing 2.94 goals per game. Dallas makes no sense to me at 7-7-2. I feel like this team sucks but they’ve been pretty decent lately and the books seem to always respect the Stars. Statistically they’re pretty bad on both ends of the ice, averaging a tenth worst 2.63 goals per game and allowing a twelfth most 3.13 goals per game. I like the Oilers at even money and the over on this game and will take them each for half a unit.
Flames vs. Blackhawks (9:00)
This is a pretty lopsided matchup statistically. Calgary is 11-3-5 and have won four of their last five games. The Flames are allowing the fewest goals in the NHL, an average of 1.9 goals per game and they’re scoring the ninth most goals, 3.32 per game average. The Blackhawks have shockingly won five of their last six games since their coaching change but their schedule has been pretty easy in those game. Chicago’s scored the third fewest goals in hockey, an average of 2.17 goals per game and allowed the ninth most goals per game, an average of 3.22. I like Calgary here but not enough to bet the -230 ML so I’ll take the Flames in regulation for half a unit.
.5u Tampa/Philly under 5.5 (-110)
.5u Oilers ML (+100)
.5u Oilers/Stars over 6 (-120)
.5u Calgary in regulation (-139)
Record (Regular Season): 100-106-4 (-20.3 units)
