NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 12/11/21

Great night last night on the NHL, going 6-3 and winning 2.84 units. Huge twelve game slate today to keep making money!

Senators vs. Lightning (1:00)

This should be a pretty easy game for the Lightning to win today visiting Ottawa. The Bolts come into this game at 17-5-4 on a five game winning streak. They’re averaging an eighth most 3.35 and allowing a ninth fewest 2.62 goals per game. Ottawa, despite winning three of their last five games are a a terrible team. They’re 7-16-1, averaging a seventh fewest 2.58 goals per game while allowing the most goals in hockey, an average of 3.88 goals per game. I love Tampa to start the day off hot. I’ll take the Bolts in regulation for a unit and a half and Tampa TT over 3.5 in regulation for half a unit.

Sabres vs. Capitals (7:00)

In last night’s game against the Rangers, the Sabres scored with 51 seconds left to tie the game at 2 before it was reversed on review due to offsides and they went on to lose 2-1. Today the NHL said that they screwed up the call on that one but regardless, the final score stands, can’t go back and fix it so with that loss, Buffalo is now on a six game losing streak, getting them to an 8-15-3 record with only one win in their last eleven games. This team sucks on both ends of the ice. They’re averaging a ninth fewest 2.69 goals per game and allowing the second most goals in hockey, an average of 3.62 goals per game. The Caps on the other hand have been phenomenal this season. They have a 16-5-6 record but have lost three of their last five games. They’re great statistically, averaging a fifth most in the NHL 3.44 goals per game while allowing the fourth fewest, an average of 2.52 per game. The first time these teams played this season on November 18th, the Caps won 5-3. I think this is a great bounce back spot for the Caps after last night’s 4-2 loss to their rival Penguins. I’m not laying the -225 on it’s own here so I’ll parlay the ML for a unit with the Leafs for pretty much even money and take the Caps in regulation for a unit and a half, which I especially like if Malcolm Subban starts in goal for Buffalo (currently projected).

Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks (7:00)

The Leafs come into this game with three losses in their last four games but they’re still one of the top teams in the NHL this season with an 18-8-2 record. Toronto’s averaging a twelfth most 3.14 goals per game and allowing an impressive third fewest 2.5 goals per game. The Blackhawks statistically look like shit on both end of the ice, but haven’t been terrible lately, winning every other game in their last ten and nine of their last 14. They’ve improved to a 10-14-2 record, but they’re only scoring a third fewest in the NHL 2.12 goals per game and allowing a tenth most 3.12 goals per game. The Leafs are starting a now healthy Petr Mrazek in goal tonight coming off an injury that kept him off the bench for a good chunk of the season. These teams played on October 27th and Chicago gave the Leafs a game where it took till overtime for Toronto to win 3-2. I like the Leafs to get another win against the Blackhawks at home tonight but could see it being a close game again so I’ll just ride this game on my parlay with the Caps.

Penguins vs. Ducks (7:00)

The Pens come into this game at home tonight on a three game win streak after their 4-2 win in the nation’s capital last night against the Caps. They’re 13-8-5, averaging 3 goals per game and allowing a sixth fewest 2.54 goals per game. Tonight they’re projected to start backup Casey DeSmith in goal tonight on the second half of a back to back, who hasn’t been great this season with a 3.64 GAA and .885 save percentage. The Ducks have won four of their last six games to improve to a 15-8-5 record on the season. Their offense is averaging a tenth most 3.18 goals per game and allowing a twelfth fewest 2.71 goals per game. I think the Penguins are the more rounded and more talented team here but there’s not enough in this game to make me bet it in any direction.

Blues vs. Canadiens (7:00)

Everyone knows that this season the Habs are one of the worst teams in the NHL. They come into this game with a pathetic 6-19-3 record on a five game losing streak with only three wins in their last 17 games. They’re averaging a fourth fewest 2.18 goals per game and allowing a fifth most 3.5 goals per game. They’re a joke. The Blues have been inconsistent at times this season but come into this game with four wins in their last six games. They’re averaging a sixth most 3.38 goals per game and have allowed an average of 2.81 goals per game. The Blues should win this game without much effort tonight but with Charlie Lingren, their third string goalie likely in goal tonight, I can’t lay the -260 here. Lingren’s been decent in his two games this season, both wins and he has a 1.81 GAA and .941 save percentage, but I don’t expect that to continue that long. I do want some action on this game though so I’ll take the Blues TT over 3.5 for half a unit.

Islanders vs. Devils (7:30)

Both of these teams have sucked. The Islanders are only 6-11-5, haven’t won in their new arena yet and only have one win in their last 13 games. Biggest disappointment of this NHL season. By. Far. They’re allowing an average of 3 goals per game but their offensive struggles are why they aren’t winning games, as they average a second fewest 2.09 goals per game. The Devils haven’t been much better lately, with just one win in their last six games. They’re 10-10-5, averaging 2.84 goals per game and allowing a tenth most 3.12 goals per game. I want nothing to do with this shitty game and will have no action on it.

Coyotes vs. Flyers (9:00)

Last night the Flyers ended their ten game losing streak with a 4-3 win in Vegas. I thought Vegas outplayed Philly and the Knights just couldn’t get the puck past Carter Hart on some great chances where the Flyers were getting lucky goals on Brossoit. They now have a 9-12-4 record and tonight they go to the dirty desert to take on the Arizona Coyotes. The Flyers look like shit, averaging a sixth fewest 2.4 goals per game while giving up an eighth most average of 3.32 goals per game. Arizona’s one of the worst teams in the NHL though. The Yotes are 5-19-2, on a four game losing streak with just one win in their last seven games (1-0 win in Winnipeg on November 29th). Their offense produces significantly the least goals in all of hockey, averaging only 1.73 goals per game. I’d slightly lean the Flyers here and the under but both of these teams suck and I want nothing to do with betting on it.

Flames vs. Bruins (10:00)

When these teams played a few weeks ago on November 21st, pretty boring game as the Flames won 4-0 in Boston. Calgary’s been really solid this year. They’re 15-6-6 but come into this game on a three game losing streak. On the season they’re averaging 3.07 goals per game. They’re winning on defense and the goaltending from Jacob Markstrom (1.84 GAA, .936 save percentage), allowing the fewest goals in the NHL, an average of 2.15 goals per game. The Bruins haven’t really impressed me this season with all of their production pretty much just coming from the Perfection Line. As as team, they’re averaging 2.78 goals per game but they’ve been pretty good defensively, allowing just 2.57 goals per game, seventh fewest in the NHL. I’d lean Calgary at home here but not enough to bet it. I like the under though and will take it for a unit.

Oilers vs. Hurricanes (10:00)

In their last four games, losses to Boston, Minnesota, LA and Seattle, the Oilers offense has slowed down and looked flat from their high powered start to the season and they’re now 16-9. Edmonton’s averaging a fourth best 3.48 goals per game, although they only have scored four totals goals in their last three games. Their defense and goaltending has kind of sucked and they’re just outscoring their problems as they’re allowing an average of 3.08 goals per game. Carolina comes into this game on the road on a three game win streak and an 18-6-1 record. They’re averaging an eighth best 3.24 goals per game and allowing the second fewest goals in hockey, an average of only 2.2 goals per game. I don’t love this game but still think its worth a half unit stab on the Canes at even money.

Kraken vs. Blue Jackets (10:00)

Columbus is 13-11-1 on the season but they’ve only won one game in their last seven and haven’t been great on the road, with a 4-8 record away from home. The Jackets offense has been pretty good this season, averaging an eleventh most 3.16 goals per game, but their defense and goaltending has sucked, allowing a ninth most 3.24 goals per game. Seattle is 9-15-2, losing three of their last four games but have five wins in their last nine…so they haven’t been playing that awful lately. They’re averaging 2.81 goals per game but allowing a fourth most 3.54 goals per game. I’d slightly lean the Kraken here but I’m definitely not betting it. I will take the over here for half a unit with two bad defenses that I expect to give up a decent amount of goals.

Kings vs. Wild (10:30)

Minnesota’s one of the most electric teams in hockey this season and I think they could end up winning the Stanley Cup. This is their best start in franchise history at 19-6-1, in first place in the Western Conference and since hiring Dean Evason, they haven’t lost more than two games in a row. That’s impressive as fuck. They come into this game on an eight game win streak. Their offense is so much fun to watch, averaging a second most 3.77 goals per game. They’re allowing 2.81 goals per game but that’s not bad when their offense is scoring at the rate that they are. LA hasn’t been great. They’re 11-10-4, with just three wins in their last eleven games (two of those in their last three). The Kings have been good defensively and in goal, allowing a fifth fewest 2.52 goals per game but their offense has sucked, scoring just a seventh fewest 2.6 goals per game. I like the Wild to continue their win streak on the road and I’ll take them for a unit.

Sharks vs. Stars (10:30)

Dallas comes into this game at 13-9-2 on the season with back to back losses to LA (4-0) and Vegas (5-4) but prior to those two games, they had won seven in a row and nine of their last ten. They’re both allowing and scoring an average of 2.79 goals per game. San Jose is 14-12-1 but have lost three of their last four games. They’re averaging 2.7 goals per game and allowing an average of 2.78 per game. I’d lean the over here but not enough to bet it. I think the Stars are the better team here and at the pick odds, I’ll take Dallas for half a unit.
