NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 1/16/22

Yesterday was an incredible sweep for me on the NHL, going an impressive 12-0 winning 16 units. Only one game today, Caps vs. Canucks. Let’s win on it!

Capitals vs. Canucks (2:00)

Both of these teams are on the second half of a back to back today. Yesterday, the Caps got a 2-0 shutout on Long Island, a sweat of a game that was one goal game throughout until Ovi capped it off with an empty netter with eleven seconds left in the game. That win ended a four game losing streak for the Capitals and improved them to 21-8-9 on the season. They’re a very good team, scoring a ninth most in the NHL average of 3.29 goals per game, lead by Alex Ovechkin, who with 53 points and 25 goals is just one back from Leon Draisaitl in leading the league in both categories. They’ve also been very good defensively and in goal, allowing just an eighth fewest average of 2.68 goals per game. The Canucks have struggled lately. Yesterday they lost  4-1 in Carolina for their third straight loss and fourth loss in their last five games. The Canucks are 16-18-3, allowing an average of 2.87 goals per game but struggling offensively all season, averaging only 2.46 goals per game, fifth fewest in the NHL. I like the Caps to win this one at home today and I’ll take them for 1.5 units. I’d lean the under but not enough to bet on it.
