NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 5/11/22

I went 4-4 to just lose 0.39 units on my NHL game bets yesterday. With the Oilers overtime loss though, I lost my series bet on them, dropping 2.48 units. Not the worst night but we like winners. Tonight, we have three game 5s with the Rangers on the brink of elimination.

Side note: Leah Hextall doing play by play last night on ESPN was fucking horrendous. So annoying to listen to her call games.

Game 5: Rangers vs. Penguins (7:00)

Back in MSG tonight for Game 5, the Rangers are now on the brink of elimination down 3-1 in this series. They got blown out in both games in Pittsburgh, with Igor Shesterkin getting pulled in both of those with a 7-4 loss in Game 3 and 7-2 loss in Game 4. I have over 4 units of risk on the Rangers to win this series which to me is looking more and more like a loss. Sidney Crosby has been the best player in the playoffs so far, proving that he’s still the best player in the NHL. I pretty much expect this series to end with a Penguins win tonight. To hedge out of my bet, I will take the Penguins TT over 2.5 for 3 units. The ideal scenario to this game will be a Rangers win to extend the series with the Pens scoring at least 3 goals in a loss. I’ll also take the over 6 for 2 units. This series has gone over in all four games so far and especially if the Penguins are up late with the Rangers elimination scenario, we could see some insanity to end this game. And if the Rangers are up, I still like the over anyway.

Game 5: Panthers vs. Capitals (7:30)

After a 3-2 overtime win in Game 4, another comeback from the Florida Panthers this series is tied up at 2-2 going back to Miami for Game 5. The Panthers haven’t looked great this series, which I expected to be a cake walk for them. The Caps are playing them quite well and this is now at least a six game series that Florida could be in danger of losing. I still have a pretty big 2.5 unit bet on the Panthers to win this series in six games and I do still like that bet, but I am a little bit worried on it. I like them to win this game at home tonight and will let that series bet ride. I’ll also take the over in this game for a unit.

Game 5: Flames vs. Stars (9:30)

The Flames flipped the switch on this series in Game 4, poured it on with 54 shots on goal in their 4-1 win on Monday night to tie the series at two games a piece. Going into this series, I thought the Stars were extremely overmatched by Calgary. I think the Flames just started this series slow and even looking like shit in those first three close games, they still hung in there those games. If Calgary comes out tonight and plays the way that they did in Game 4, this series will be over in six games. My biggest series bet of the first round was 3 units on the Flames in six games or less. I still like that bet with the way they played in Game 4 in Dallas. With the series going back to Calgary tonight for Game 5, I’m letting that all ride and doubling down on it with a unit on the Flames in regulation. This series has trended way under and I will take the under 5.5 and the Dallas TT under 2.5 for a unit each.
