Sabres vs. Blackhawks: 10/29/22 – Game Reactions/Recap

After taking two losses in a row to the Kraken and the Habs the Sabres bounced back tonight with a 4-3 comeback win against the Blackhawks at home tonight.

6:24 into the game Victor Olofsson gave the Sabres the first lead of the game on the power play but it was taken off the board after Chicago challenged it for offsides, the stupidest rule in the NHL. He got it right back though five seconds of game time later on a top shelf rip right off the face off to make it 1-0 on a goal that counts. On a power play of their own the Blackhawks scored in the middle of a giant scrum in front of the net to make it 1-1 with 9:40 left in the period on a goal from Jason Dickinson. Great first period and going into the first intermission with a 1-1 tie, the Sabres outshot the Hawks 16-5.

The Blackhawks took their first leaf of the game 4:49 into the second period on a second effort from Sam Lafferty. Not long after the Hawk made it 3-1 with 13:40 left in the second period on Taylor Raddysh’s third goal of the season.

In the third period, Tage Thompson with a solid effort in front of the net to put Buffalo within one with 8:05 left in the game. Late in the third with 3:18 left in the game, he scored again to tie it up at 3, hitting the over.

On the power play 36 seconds into overtime, Victor Olofsson scored the game winner!

Great win for the Sabres. Even though we went down 3-1 at at point the Sabres show resilience and kept battling to get the win. Solid effort for over 60 minutes, outshooting the Hawks 45-26. Glad the boys got the win to end the two game losing streak.

FINAL: Sabres 4, Blackhawks 3
