The Sabres came into tonight’s game on a four game losing streak with the Eastern Conference leading Bruins coming to town and they made it five losses in a row with a competitive fun game that unfortunately finished short, losing 3-1 to the B’s.
The Sabres opened the scoring tonight with Tage Thompson scoring a beauty, short handed just 5:17 into the game. Pretty boring game though as it took till just 1:09 left in the second period for the Bruins to tie the game up on a Patrice Bergeron power play goal to make it 1-1 going into the second intermission.
12:31 into a competitive back and forth third period, the B’s took their first lead of the game with defenseman Jakub Zboril scoring to make it 2-1. Late in the game with just 1:49 left in the game, Bergy gave his Bruins a 3-1 lead in the game on a perfect play off a pass from Brad Marchand. Don Granato challenged the goal but it was unsuccessful with the play determined to be onside with Pasta bouncing the puck on the tape of his stick bringing it into the zone. They rode that out to a 3-1 win.
FINAL: Sabres 1, Bruins 3
Pretty solid game for the Sabres, they played competitive hockey through the entirety of the game, trading chances with a much more talented team. Can’t be too mad with how this game played out.
Go Sabres.
